skills plays a large part but heck, on heart, will and sheer determination alone, Pac probably would be ranked top 5 atg.

he was being boxed silly by sasakul for a good 8 rounds before he caught sasakul and sent him to the canvas. if based on skilss, sasakul should be top 50 atg.

    I agree.

No matter how skilled or equip you are but you don't fight real competition and take risk then it's immaterial.

That's way overdoing it, though Sasakul was indeed a very skilled technician.

How can you make that claim? Who did he prove his skills against?

    that was sarcastic man.

and besides, people are saying pac doesn't have skills, blah blah blah.
well if it's based on skill alone, we should rank guzman high.

like what you said, skills are proven against fighters. so if pac beat mayweather, the TS claims that he would not put him above whitaker because of SKILLS. it's like shredding of the accomplishments (who he beat) then rating him about how he fights. so logic would say, joan guzman is ATG

skills are for paper, it doesn't hold water until you beat real competition

Resume only means so much. If fighter A and fighter B each beat a certain level of fighters, fighter A moreso than fighter B, it doesn't necessarily mean that fighter A was the better of the two. It just means he was more accomplished on paper. Fighter A may have beaten said level of fighter far more comprehensively when up against him (even if it wasn't as often), which counts for something. Certain fighters were more privelaged than others in regards to the opposition they faced as well, in that they fought in different (stronger or weaker) eras, weight classes, management, or just flat out didn't get the same breaks. Therefore, skills/ability have to be taken into account, unless you're talking about a fighter who had mere potential and was unable to realize it because of a glaring flaw or some outside factor.

i was just being sarcastic man, but the point is sasakul was really a very skilled technician.

its not just skills, it has a lot to do with resume, heart, determination to win etc.

Morales was not the best skillswise or speedwise, but he had power and an insane determination to win and fighting heart.

He already beat marquez:roll: anyways back to the topic he may not be ahead of whitaker or SRL but he'll be around their neighborhood if he beats mayweather.

resume and skills. pac has under-rated skills. pac has improved his defense and is better now at slipping/dodging and blocking punches. he has also improved his counter-punching skills and his punching as we all know is very accurate, fast and hard.

i would probably rate pac above whitaker due to his superior resume and continuously improving skills but still below leonard.

Simply a discrepancy in our definitions of the word amigo. I don't accept that Pacquiao is less skilled than someone like Guzman, because for me slickness does not equal skill. What Pacquiao does is very skilled, maybe not in a conventional sense but I detest that notion of skill. For me, Duran and Chavez are more skilled than Mayweather and Roy Jones, or at least as skilled as. Thus, what you call ability I can happily call skill, but our sentiments are the same regardless.
