i felt that Kessler could have won a rematch. Also, I thought he looked more than just OK. And Calzaghe looked phenomenal in that fight.

I have to agree that BHOP and Reid had closer fights with JC and Eubnak (shot version) and Bika gave JC much harder fights than Kessler. That puts Kesslers performance in perspective and another worrying aspect is that Kessler was badly winded by featherfisted JC.

Rounds 6 to 12 Kessler was controlled and outclassed.

The end of the story is that the Kessler fight is the only fight Joe has been in where he thought that he could loose halfway into the fight. Then in the beginning of round 7 he saw Kessler breathing hard and from then on he thought he would win.

"Kessler is the best opponent I have faced in my carreer and the fight I am the most proud of".

    End of story.

The fact is Kessler looked better in defeat against Calzaghe then Froch and Bute looked in victory against their best opponents.

The level of skills displaced during the Calzaghe-Kessler fight was mind blowing.

Yes lets put that in perspective though by watching calzaghe vs hopkins with calzaghe barely able to land a punch.

Now let us look at froch vs taylor and taylor vs hopkins.

Sorry but for me Kessler is stiff robotic predictable and overrated.

The only people who rate him highly are calzaghe fans.

Bute still beat Bika in a better way than Calzaghe. Everything is a question of styles..

Or the bika that fought calzaghe didn't turn up that night against bute but point taken.Only time will tell but I just have this hunch that bute kessler andrade are not as good as people like to think and that both taylor and froch beat them all as well as calzaghe.

If Froch vs Bute comes off I am predicting froch winning via KO.

He got dominated from round 5 on. HAd a decent 12th but the fight was well over by then and Calzaghe was largely just clowning.

He is rated high because the Brits want him rate him high to let Calzaghe's record look less pathetic. That is all. He hasnt accomplished anything.

Indeed If he were any good he would have done something more by now he's no spring chicken not like the guys 25.

All the management issues are ridiculous excuses added to that the lightest hitting super middle going had him struggling to take the punches.

I seriously think Froch would take his head off because he's not exactly hard to hit.

Hopkins doesn't rate Kessler at all and I respect his opinion.

I like Jean Pascal but how do you judge he's better than Bute? He gave a close fight to Froch who got outboxed by Taylor but managed to knock him out. Pascal never fought a top 10 ring magazine SMW before Froch, Bute fought 3. You are not objective.

Taylor was never proven in the SMW (and lost to Spinks on a lot of people cards) and was overhyped (probably because he was american), even if he is a good fighter, Andrade would beat him faster than Froch.

Hopkins says a lot of things..

For the moment Kessler is the best SMW until someone proves the opposite. Just question of styles Kessler would beat Froch wide and probably put him down.

    Rubbish.

Kessler was highly regarded BEFORE the Calzaghe fight as well. He was unified Champion - something which NONE of the current bunch are.

Until the Calzaghe fight he had lost ONE round on the judges scorescard. Show me another unified champ (WBA and WBC) who has only ever lost one round?

Looking good in defeat is actually the least of the reasons to give him credit. In fact, he was poorly prepared for that fight (because of a hand injury) and that showed in the latter rounds. This takes nothign away from Joe, because being in top shape is part of being a clever fighter, and then if you have some injury you have to win anyway. Calzaghe has won several fights without being 100%. However, Kessler does not get credit only for looking good in defeat - if you think that then you have only recently started following boxing or you only have a very American perspective on boxing.
