Has anybody on hear heard the commentary from HBO on the Dib V Luevano fight? They bagged this **** out of him for those who havent. Openly calling his style a boring style (not wrong) and Manny Steward labelled him a gym fighter (performs well in the gym but cannot bring it to the fight). Anyways its not because he lost but because he just has a terrible style they dont want to know about. He hasnt fought there since and after being named today as one of the new 10 HD fighters, anyone else think he wont be back at least on US TV anytime soon? Did his terrible showing against Luevano (as i said not for losing but the way he fought) blow his chances in America? I know Mosley is still backing him but that doesnt mean HBO are jut going to keep giving him spots just because hes Shane Mosleys friend! Heres a link to the fight for those who havent seen it or want to hear the HBO commentary of it: http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/Steven+Luevano+vs+Billy+Dib?hmz=736561726368686561646572
BTW im not trying to hate on him im not a hater or a fan on the kid just asking what people think his chances are of becoming an American success?
When Sugar was out last, he basically said people didnt enjoy his fight and Billy would have to work his way back up again. He wont be afforded another opportunity like that in the States, he will have to force it I reckon. Maybe through becoming a mandatory or something. Billy just isnt that good and I think he will never be a name in the crowded American market. He had his chance and just wasnt good enough. Not only did he fail to impress in that bout but a couple of other performances before that aswell. He is probably good enough to pick up a title one day, but if it happens it wont be against the best in the division or even against anyone that well regarded. Dib is just athletically gifted talent who cant put it all together well enough to be anymore then a consistent fringe contender...there have been many like him before and will be many more in the future...Good but not good enough.
I've seen all his fights that aired in the US and he was getting bagged in all of them cause he wasn't doing anything but show boating and rarely throwing a punch, if it wasn't for GBP he would of been canned after his first fight over there, although when he last fought on fox sports he he did what he does in the gym and was aggressive and let his hands go, thats the version that Mosely knew from sparring and seen some potential.
I still felt he looked fairly average against Davey, who in a lot of ways is suits Billy down to the ground. I saw a fire in Billy, a conviction to really win that fight convincingly but overall I still saw just an ok fighter with more flash then substance.
