I don't see there being a problem with supporting someone because they are British. Perhaps sometimes it does lead people into being a little one-eyed, however. I wouldn't say there are any blatant fanboys on ESB though (for Hatton).... certainly no worse than some of the **** I had to listen to last night in the boozer. For me, the Irish are far worse than the British..... they are so precious (some of them anyway) it is unbelievable.... don't even dare to say you don't think one of their fighters is up to much - they take it WAY too personally!
I'm not a hugger. I can see the bad and the good in fighters. I just don't happen to believe that the relatively minor "crimes" of speaking about yourself in the third person and going a bit overboard in trying to hype your fights make a fighter the anti-christ. Especially when the '**** then lists guys like Froch and Witter, who have not achieved half what Hatton has, nor gone out of their way to make the biggest and best fights like he has as favourite fighters. Not that I care what Betty says as he's ****ing mentally deficient anyway, but have a bit of perspective!
Minor? If your mate's mate John in the pub said "John will get the next round in. John is going to the football this weekend" what the **** would you think? You'd think the guy is a complete and utter arrogant **** and quite rightly so.
Theres a big difference between being a hugger and just showing support. No one on that list (including myself) is so biased that they can't see both sides of a reasonable arguement regarding Hatton. I don't think you can say the same about a few of the loons that have made it their lifes work to whinge on here about every little percieved "crime against boxing" that the Hattons have committed over the last 5 years.
If you can't see why its arrogant you are probably suffering from similar symptoms :good You wouldn't do it yourself. I can only presume he thinks that because he's above everybody else in terms of status and finance he believes its okay for him to do things other people wouldn't. Ironic considering he preaches about being one of the lads!
Its SLIGHTY annoying but it doesn't bother me and, given that he does it in every interview, even if it did bother me I'd have got over it and put it down to being "one of those things" by now, They are far more interesting/ important things going on than whether Hatton has talked in the 3rd person for the 143rd time.
What would do my tits in would be if I was having a pint with John and he'd kept banging on about the same old childish and irrelevent shite for the last 5 years. I'd probably send him over to the corner where the women were drinking so he could have a nice gossip and a natter.
Fair play. I don't think I talk about his third person antics very much. However, this is a thread about why betty hates him, and why he is hated in general. Top of the list is his arrogance and here is an example! I will not talk about it for 2 weeks.
