''Manny Pacquiao can be outboxed, he is no Floyd Mayweather Jnr'', I believe that was the quote from the Sky Sports commentator {who I think was the much respected Ian Darke} as Pacquiao was entering the ring against Hatton, he then went on to say that Pacman was a brawler that had now learned to fight, all in all he was glowing in his praise of Pacman, but those couple of comments tell me, that people in the game, my well think that Pacman is one of the greatest boxers of his generation, but not one of the greatest boxers ever.

I personally think that Manny is fantastic, but I agree with the commentator he aint no Floyd Mayweather, and unless Manny can beat Floyd H2H, I would not rank Manny anywhere near as high as Floyd, not only has Floyd never lost, he is a great technician, very silky and smooth.

Floyd Mayweather Jr can be outboxed too. All you gotta do is stick a jab in his face and move your feet. Or in Pac's case a straight left.

Floyd is kind of overrated. He doesn't even rank in the same vicinity as PAcquiao, but if Floyd beats Pacquiao he will definately close the distance.

anyone can be outboxed. Hearns was hard to outbox, but if a guy has a reach advantage and is quicker, he can outbox his opponent.

Floyd ain't no Manny Pacquiao either!

Pacman is great on his own... he doesn't need floyd's comparison.

Floyd is a runner that boxes once in a while esp when his opponent is tired chasing him.

If this is all that is needed to beat Floyd - why hasn't it happened yet? :bart

You'll need more than a good jab and footwork to beat this guy. I think you need everything. Better yet - until he loses - we don't know what is needed to beat him. :nono

Floyd has never fought anyone with a good jab and good footwork.

The best jab Floyd has faced was a past-prime Oscar, and Oscar's footwork is sub-par. And even then he was outboxed during several rounds.

Apart from that, there is noone with even an above-average jab on Mayweather's resume.

Pacquiao has turned into quite the boxer-puncher lately. Speed, increased two fisted power, footwork, timing, and he is a southpaw to boot. Pac is a more controlled fighter now and doesn't rush in like the old Manny. He can be outboxed but so can Mayweather.

Manny has hugely improved from a dynamo who threw 1-2s from southpaw stance only to a always super-active athlete who punches sharp, combines smoothly different punch techniques with accuracy, footwork, head movement, inteligence and true grit. Whether or not he can can be outboxed, that remains to be seen from the Mayweather-Marquez bout. Marquez could not use silky defensive techniques to avoid getting tagged and still counter hard but he could hit Manny - it is to Mayweather to prove that he can block, duck and slip Marquez and counter and from that point on, at least, you can say that he has the useful defense and counter-offense against Manny. Still, it's a different kind of target and opponent since Manny will not come rushing in like Hatton or punch in bunches like Hoya. On the other side, I believe that Manny will have a tough time to reach Floyd if he adjusts to Manny, rolls to avoid the right hook and turns, unleashing the sharp str8 right hand on Pac's face.
