It has been reported already on other boxing websites, that Arum has wanted to pair Pacman with Cotto pending the latter's WBO welterweight title fight against Joshua Clottey. Pacman's trainer, Freddie Roach, also has floated around the idea that yes, Pacquiao would not wait for PBF but would entertain a catchweight fight against Cotto or Mosley. It was also reported that Pacman's closest advisors suggested that Cotto would be the better opponent to fight next.

However, it is now being reported that Roach is now subtly more or less trying to push for Manny to fight Floyd. There is also members within Pacman's camp saying that a fight against PBF would be the most logical thing to do at this stage of Manny's career. It also would surely bring Manny the most money. Plus they said, fighting Cotto does not really get him anything. They suggest taking the superfight if one avails itself.

Thoughts on this continuing hoopla and who should Pac face next.

hmm says... I'm not confused. They sure would like PBF but they won't play his game if he is trying to call the shots... as a result they have some backup plans which they are not sure whether to go through at the moment. It's just simple scheduling and timing problems with a lot of "ifs" (if Cotto beats Clottey, etc) having to wait for other fighters and such. We'll know their final plans in due time.

The only info I'm relying on is Roach's and Arum's and neither of Pac's so called "advisors" that are giving such info to the media prematurely.

Sounds like Freddie took a look at some tape and said "yeah we can beat that!"

they know floyd is a more risky fight for pac than cotto is i actually read this in a article quoting freddie saying pac struggles against counter punchers and floyd falls into that. but they know manny is at his peak so its now or never regarding his chances of winning the fight. people are saying pac wont fight floyd because floyd would want the bigger share but even by taking a smaller share he wll make more money this way that fighting cotto. basically if he fights cotto its because he doesnt want to fight floyd full stop

If they take the Floyd fight, they have some major homework in store. Im sure Freddy will find something they can exploit about Floyd fight game.

pac has proven time and time again that he is willing to fight anybody and even cotto. He has a bigger chance of getting beat down bad against cotto than a potshoting floyd, now why would he be afraid of him?

I dont think fighters are ever really scared of each other however the thought of losing is where the fear comes in... And Floyd has a better chance of beating Manny than Cotto...
