It was ment to be dealt on Wednesday. I think there are some problems with TV or something like that, because Adamek agreed the contract and signed it down, then passed to Main Events. Or maybe Matt Godfrey is trying to avoid Tomasz I read today on bokser.org that Godfrey was avoiding Herbie Hide twice, so maybe it's his habit ? W/e
He did need to fight Dawson, because he was the mandatory after he beat Eric Harding in the eliminator. Dawson also was never hyped up, actually before he fought Harding, a lot of people thought he was overrated. I like Adamek, and i always rooted for him when he fights( except for the Dawson match up). Hes very exciting and has underrated skills, i hope he continues to take it to the top. A few more wins over some of the other champions, he could be pushing pound for pound status.
As far as I know, this is incorrect. Dawson was SUPPOSED to fight an official eliminator (I believe against Diaconu), but that fight never happened. Adamek agreed to fight Dawson, regardless, even though he had not officially obtained mandatory status.
I think Dawson was a mandatory but Adamek had another 9 months before he had to face him. He could have milked his belt for another fight inbetween then but i think the fact that he was assured to get on TV fighting Dawson he jumped straight in.
Its not 'incorrect' at all, Dawson was originally suppose to fight Stripe Drews in the eliminator but Drews didn't want the fight, so Eric Harding( who was ranked exactly at 10 at light heavyweight by ring magazine) filled in his place so it was an official eliminator. Watch Dawson vs Harding, and you'll hear Nick Charles repeat it over and over again. Dawson was definitely the mandatory.
That was my understanding. Adamek VOLUNTEERED to face Dawson when he did. And Dawson ESCAPED having to fight an official mandatory, too.
Doing a bit of research and found that the NABF is affiliated with the WBC(probabaly owned).Dawson vs Harding was for the NABF.I think the WBC appointed him the mandatory.
Where is Axe? He knows exactly how this went down. I am CERTAIN that Adamek did not have to fight Dawson when he did, but chose to do so.
