Calzaghe by knockout!!!!!!! Always remember that Roid Jones ran from Michalczewski for years, and for huge money.
PEOPLE THE GREAT MAN IS ABOUT TO SPEAK,BEGIN OH GODLIKE OMNIPOTENT ONE.. with total impartiality and overlooking ones bias/agenda i shall answer this with complete objectivity.. lets disregard the groupies pertaining to either claimant and look at this is with a sense of perspective.. jones was never "the man" for me at SMW or LHW" those distinctions rightly belong to the welsh lad and dariusz m!with regards calzaghe i simply cannot see jones knocking him out nor outworking him in a "prime for prime scenario" now i know that hurts a few of you but it is a logical conclusion to draw when debating calzaghes qualities and positives as a fighter,on the other hand jones was a great fighter back in the day who at times had the ability to make showboating an art form and posessed the reflexes of a springbok, but facts are prime (if their is such a thing) comes at different times for different people i think we can safely assume calzaghe was peaking in his thirties whilst jones was declining in his thirties, prime for prime at 168 calzaghe UD. -SOCRATES
If Jones faught Joe back in Jones prime, he would have got no credit fot wiping him out which he would have done. He wouldnt have even been a top 6 win for Jones. Calzaghe wasnt a well regared fighter till recently. Comon even a bum Like Lacy was supposed to beat him. Calzaghe had a **** rep. hes only been the top man for 2 years. Jones was the man for 10+ ROFL cant compare. Forget Jones.... why dont Calzaghe jump up face Michelzewski? Taarver? Johnson? Hill? Reggie Johnson...Franki Liles Ottke Beyer....zzzz list goe son and on
unfortunately so do you n you n you....... now Had I been present at the creation, I would have given some useful hints for the better ordering of the universe. firstly the the abolition of your gene pool. no reply needed as no response forthcoming,im taking a minute off for tax reasons and complete scant disregard for you. p.s i could do a one off comeback special but only if the moneys right,
it's Calzaghes style that makes him so frustrating to fight, EVERYONE says so. That's why hes the one dimensional slapper before the fight and the awkward speed demon after the fight. RJ wouldn't be used to it and have trouble with it early but I would say RJ KO/TKO late with some good moments from Calzaghe. Anybody with a hint of boxing knowledge knows Jones was finished long before the Calzaghe fight, nobody is arguing that.
the signs of greatness were evident from the get go he made eubank look amateurish at times, what he did to lacy was incredible, his switch of tactics against kessler was genius, his work rate against hopkins unstoppable, his showmanship against roy jones world class!!!!
Lol at anyone supporting a Calzaghe win. Calzaghe did not ever have what it takes to win. This is not Roy with no movement and shot ass legs. This is Roy gliding around the ring effortlessly firing off in a blink. Calzaghe has shitty defense and always had. Especially when he opens up. Bhop proved that, Roy even proved that in his brief moments of success. And the million other fighters that dropped hurt him and put him on his ass proved that. He comes back and slaps harder but he would not have a steady easy target with a prime Jones. When Calzaghe has to pursue his shitty footwork and sloppy style gets exposed as in the bhop fight where bhop caught him with shots easily. Roy aint never say Calzaghe would be no ****ing toss up in his prime you ****ing lying ass whores..lol. Roy beat better fighters in his prime and far more easily than Calzaghe. If you watch them on tape you see one guy that NEVER had any power and got probably one pure knockout. The key is that a prime Roy would have too much of a target and legs to move around and pick his spots. The current Roy has to wait for you to be in the right place to get off b/c his legs are shot as ****. Calzaghe realized this and just stood right outside his range and started to ****** around b/c Roy was in quicksand. Not b/c of **** Calzaghe was doing.
Roy is hugely overrated, he got lucky in his prime, nobody was brave enough to call his bluff. He lost to a green, clumsy B-Hop (I didn't give Roy a round). He was like Vic Darchinyan or Wladimir Klitschko: very technical but if you attack them ferociously, they are beatable. when Glen johnson called his bluff, Roy had no answer for 9 rounds. Prime Calzaghe (the one who beat Eubank) was an all-out pressure fighter who would not allow Roy to keep his private comfort zone. Similar to Johnson vs Jones, Calzaghe wins by TKO in the late rounds.
I just showed you about 2 clicks up the page how you're wrong on this. Glen Johnson had no resume and wasn't highly regarded when Hopkins beat him (it was roughly 10 years later when the guy finally became champ). Hopkins was literally an unknown who hadn't fought anyone decent when Roy beat him, which is why he went back to the drawing board against some better competition before he tried again for a title vs Mercundo, finally picking up the title in his 3rd shot. Why are those wins regarded as highly as they are today? Because of what Hopkins and Johnson did after those fights, not before them. The main point: Had Roy defeated Joe any time post-Eubank and Joe then continued to have the exact same career he did, it would be looked at in Roy's first tier of wins right now.
No it wouldn't have. If Joe had fought more Eubank level fighters (even the non-peak version) his chin wouldn't have remained in tact (as evidenced by how many right hands Joe ate in that fight). If Joe had fought guys like RJJ he would have become Ricky Hatton by his late 20s or early 30s. He wouldn't have been pristine at the end if he had to fight better athletes.
Fascinating matchup this one, a great match-up of superbly talented boxers with outstanding speed. But at 168 or 175, prime Vs prime, Roy wins this mythical matchup with ease. If Roy came in reluctant and gun-shy, he could take a clear UD over Joe. If Roy was focused and determined then a late TKO is a strong possibility. Calzaghe, much as I admire him, has been open to right hands his whole career. Jones hardly got hit at all in his prime because of his footwork and punch anticipation. Not a close fight this one. Even Calzaghe - a big Jones fan - admits the possibility of losing to Roy in his autobiography.
So, substituting Roy Jones for, say, Will McEntyre on his resume, makes the difference between Joe being any good now and falling off a cliff? Methinks you overrate RJJ's "ruining" ability. If Clinton Woods could bounce back from a Jones KO loss to bigger and better things for himself, why couldn't someone who was a better fighter than him? What's to say the loss doesn't motivate Calzaghe to become an even better fighter?
