Yes, on account of him apparently beating Floyd.

He deserves to be, but the fact is he never actually beat a lineal champion.

He merely inherited the title twice according to CyberBoxingZone.

Lloyd Honeyghan was the WBA/WBC/IBF welterweight champion who lost to:

Marlon Starling who lost to Maurice Blocker who lost to Simon Brown who lost to James McGirt who lost to Pernell Whitaker who lost to Oscar De La Hoya who lost to Tito who... never lost @ welterweight.

Mosley, Forrest & Mayorga have never unified the WBA/WBC/IBF welterweight title let alone beat a current lineal welterweight champion.

thank you boxhype. floyd has never lost. and floyd didn't do enough at welter to start a new line, let alone unify.

Shane was seen as the consensus number 1 at 47 when he beat DLH. All this emphasis on Linear is hogwash. Shane beat the best man at 47 at teh time which was DLH.

Linage was re-established for certain when Mosley and Forrest unified their two belts, at a time when they were considered to be the top guys in the division and consolidated when Mayorga faced Forrest after defeating Six heads Lewis

So Forrest--> Mayorga-->Spinks-->Judah--->Baldomir-->Mayweather Jr, who retired.

One quick note: That's not a slag against Mosley who was certainly the man at welterweight back in 2000-2002, and is still the man to beat at the moment.

The rule is you gotta simultaneously hold the WBA/WBC/IBF Title...

(Although in fairness I support the idea that Mayorga was the linear welterweight champion due to the fact that Spinks initially won the vacant IBF welterweight title).

Mayorga was the real IBF champion... (I retract against Mayorga).

Forrest never won the WBA welterweight title and Mosley has never unified.

Mosley and Forrest have never won the lineal welterweight title.

Who gives a **** about Lineal...what am I supposed to say that Floyd's beating of Baldo was more impressive then Mosely's over oscar cause baldo was the Lineal champ? Am I supposed to over look the fact that Baldo is probably the worst champion in the history of the 147 lb division?
