Which current fighters would me most likely to take a $0 purse to prove who was best?

Current fighters - JMM, Izzy and Rafa

And to all you saying "nobody" ok so that's most likely true in a literal sense, but the 3 guys i've mentioned put proving themselves before purse

What makes you come to this conclusion?

Dinamita's biggest money fights he can get are Pacquiao and Mayweather. Of course he has a lot of pride and wants to be the best, but that doesn't mean he puts it before money.

Rafael has made no bones about wanting the big purses. He was the feature of an interview in The Ring and kept talking about wanting the big fights that would make the most money.

Izzy and Rafael fighting each other made the most business sense, as well as being perhaps the greatest filmed trilogy ever.

They weren't going to make as much money fighting other guys at 122.

Izzy and Rafa put themselves through that hell for something far beyond money

What was the split on the Pac JMM2 fight? Wasnt it some disgusting figure like 20/80?

You highlighted the last part of my post while ignoring the first part of that sentence. Obviously every boxer is fighting for money. But these 3 guys are the absolute antethises of money grabbing cowards like Floyd

I'm not talking what motivates them when they're inside the ring and already battling. They've got a lot of heart and pride when in there and want to win.

I'm saying they'd take the big money fight first, even if it's against a lesser fighter, than they would probably take that fight over the one which would do more to prove themselves at the #1 in that division or whatever. They can always do that after making the big payday. Big money fights don't come often, and boxers have short careers compared to many professions.

JM Marquez got the very short end of the stick against Pacquiao but it was still the biggest payday he could get.

There's guys who fight for pride/money, and others who are much more money-oriented. But the belief that grown men with bills to pay would fight for ZERO dollars is ridiculous.

Then you're probably too damn gullible or too sheltered.

You expect person who puts his life on the line every time he enters the ring, in a sport with no 401k plan, very high risk for brain damage, a ridiculous amount of stress physically and mentally, to go into the ring and be willing to not get paid so he can prove he is the best?

In the real world, people have bills to pay, and often the case with fighters, kids to support.

"Hey son, I proved I'm the best in my division!! I also added an extra $2 for your college fund. It's now up to 11 dollars! And try not to eat up all the Cup O Noodles, we're on a tight budget".

Rocky Balboa fought Ivan Drago for free!!

It was funny when Ricardo Mayorga said "I'll fight Oscar for free". And then he almost pulls out of the fight a couple days before because he wasn't happy with the money Don King was paying him.
