A young KT against a current Pac would be a hell of a fight to see. I might shade toward KT a little because I think his defense was just a little bit better, but I wouldn't bet the mortgage on it.
I've got Tszyu's career set on dvd - I immediately liked him because he started fighting respectable opponents after like, five fights! I'd go as far as to call him great. On his best day he can beat any 140lb'er in history.
I actually almost agree with all of that. I think he was just about as good as you will ever see him in his late amatuer career. Really one of the best amateurs Ive seen on film. And his early pro career was very impressive at the time for the level of opposition he was taking care of with so few pro bouts to his name. You dont often see a guy taking on those names so early. Funnily the American commentators covering an am bout of his I think against Terron Millet were saying this guy had just about everything..fluid, quick, excellent skills but he lacked pop.. I could be pulling a lot of that out of thin air but the comment about his lack of power was definitely said.
Tyszus fight with Forrest was a masterclass and it showed that as well as hitting like a mule Kostya had great boxing ability, I was always facinated how a Prime Professional Vernon does against a Prime Professional Tyszu?
:rofl I rest my case. I will repeat the guys resume is worse than Calzaghes. He was a great fighter but he dont have the prime time scalps. He got ahh so-sos under his belt.
Agree the guy only ever fought the best and NEVER ducked anyone. People complain about the lack of big names on his CV, but lets not forget, you can ONLY fight the best that is out there, and that is one thing Kostya always did. He still has some great wins on his CV, and also defeated several undefeated fighters (e.g. Pineda, Bergman, Urkal, Judah, . . .etc). People forget how much of an underdog Tszyu was in the Judah fight. People were talking about the undefeated Judah as an absolute P4P star and future all time great. That's how highly regarded he was at the time. I remember most boxing analysts were predicting a Judah KO within 6. Ahhh just made me smile to see just how wrong they were IMO Tzsyu was at his absolute peak when he fought Gonzalez. That was just a punishing one-sided beatdown if I've ever seen one.
