Calzaghe was actually scheduled to face Magee until Veit's lawyers got involved. He didn't want to rematch Veit but wanted to keep hold of his WBO strap. So he went over to Germany and knocked Veit out.

well a magee fight would have sealed his legacy early, shame that fell thru!

i know he did, and also he was not happy about it but he also sparked him in round 1 of the first fight. my point is why not just ditch the belt and move onwards and upwards. would roy or anyother great rematch a guy they delt with so easy unless for a load of cash but not just a manditory?
obviously u cant pull this post out if jones fights woods again!!

Agreed, but Magee was still a decent fighter in his own right. :deal

Only Calzaghe and Warren can answer why he didn't ditch the WBO strap but it's probably down to money.

Maybe... but if Hatton comes back and beats Mayweather Jr, Pacquiao and then moves up and beats Cotto does he not become P4P????

That is about as likely. It is kind of important to have a guard OR move your head. Froch doe neither. He is SO overrated...

Taylor was inexpiriened at the weight. Once he comes up against a heavy puncher, or someone who can box him at a distance he'll lose (and badly)

Really can't see the attraction of Froch...he is now an easy target. Look at Hopkins, he avoided Calzaghe until he had nowhere to go and was face to face with him... but he is now calling out Froch, because he see's the obvious flaws and lack of pedigree.

Sprited fighter, no doubt. World beater no shout.:good:good

The vulnerabilites and limitations of Froch will make it easier for him to get the big fights. No-one wants to face an invincible opponent for no money do they?

Doesnt matter Froch would never beat Joe,Joe is a better fighter than Froch, hes faster, has great stamina, great chin and puts his punches together better and the shear volume would overwhelm Carl
