The fact Tszyu was a 3/1 underdog against Zab goes to show he never looked THAT good. Yes Zab was hyped and a supposed future superstar, but 3/1 is dismissive. If Tszyu was that great he would never have been 3/1 against anyone. As it turns out his record is nothing special and his best win over Judah don't look that special with the benefit of hindsight.
I liked KT but he was overrated.

These 20 year old kids cant tell me nothing. People like me were there, I was watching boxing and into it just like now. Tszyu was always hyped since the amatuers and b/c he achieved success against very beatable fighters that dont make him great. He was a great amateur with a good pro record. He cant be put in the same ilk as others that did more than him. I am not even talking about his knockout loss to a guy that was not a world beater. But he has been dropped in fights he was a good exciting fighter that was overhyped b/c of his amateur background that dont always = a great pro background. Judah was hyped beyond belief but those in the know, knew the fight was a toss up. The fact that everybody KNEW Tsyu was beatable and can be hurt and Judah was lighting guys up made him the betting favorite. It just goes to show what people thought about him during that time which is what counts.

Clearly a hater. I was just commenting on the ridiculous predictions made in the states. Sure he was a 3/1 underdog over there, but over in Australia the odds were completely the opposite.

And the fact that he was an underdog in the US, was just a reflection of just how biased they were over there, rather than a reflection of reality. I remember Jeff Fenech made the comment that he put a lot of money for KT to win under 3 rounds - he thought it was a sure thing. He obviously knew KT was too much for him and he was right.

KT is not overrated. If you looked into his record more closely you'll see why, fighting former world champs within his first few fights. I challenge you to find a tougher start to a pro career than KT's. His overall record fighting world champions is just outstanding. And if you tally up his combined win-loss records of all his opponents, I'm sure it would rank amongst the best of them.

mate if you think any market, sports betting or otherwise, can hold up such an arbitrage...then you're dreaming. Any book worth it's salt had Judah a massive favourite...that's a fact.

You must be a straight up and down moron. It's ok cuz ESB has its own "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding such matters. So as long as you don't actually physically come out and SAY that you're a moron - regardless of how much the content of your posts actually REVEALS that you're a moron - then we have no legal authority to kick you off the board. So carry on.

I think his extensive amatuer career probably shortened his pro career.

You're also a moron who thinks EM won all three fights against MAB.

KT took on Juan La Porte in his THIRD pro fight. Ever heard of him?? Before he was 15-0 he took on La Porte, Livingstone Bramble, Hernandez (was a dangerous mofo at the time), Jake the snake Rodriguez, and Roger Mayweather. He went on to beat Pineda, Bergman, Grove, Rafael Ruelas, Diosbelys Hurtado, Miguel Angel Gonzalez when he was 43-1, JCC, Sharba Mitchell, Judah, Tackie, and Leija - a quality resume by anyone's standards, especially when you consider he was fighting world class competition by his third professional fight.

Had he not lost to Phillips he would have ODLH on his resume. It's damned unfortunate that fight never happened.

The reason he was a dog to Judah is because at that time Judah was thought to be a PBF level fighter and KT was widely considered on the downslide. Which he was. The thing is, even a diminished KT is enough to one shot Judah into a chicken dance.

    agreed.
the fact the he would waste his prime years fighting sharba mitchell 2 times leaves a sour taste in my mouth. and the fact that he fought jesse james leija after he quit like a ***** against mickey ward.
other BEASTS Tszyu defended his title against
    1) oktay urakal - another fight to avoid any type of super fight
    2) ahmed santos (ummm who??)
    3) leonardo mas
    4) ben tackie

chavez already had 4 losses and over 100 fights...he was DONE
ruelas....no world beater--good fighter...never won a big fight besides pendleton
miquel angel gonzaelez..solid belt holder...but another guy who was never in a superfight he won....

The last 4 years of his career he fights 4 times....sitting on his title trying to figure out who not to fight....the guy was ood..but the most overrated guy i have ever seen...EVER

When are people going to understand that odds are not a reflection of how a fight is expected to turn out, but how betting trends are expected to turn out? I have no doubt KT had lower odds in Australia - Hatton had lower odds at English books just weeks ago. Those books are going to get money on the home fighter even with poor odds, so they post poor odds. (Yes, this makes less sense in the internet-betting age, but local odds still exist.)

As for Judah at 3/1, it reflects network hype on Zab and KT's relatively low US profile as much as it does an expected result, probably more. This may or may not side with "expert" opinion, but don't confuse it with an expected outcome for the fight.
