As long as the bout takes place under the 147lbs weight limit it would be for Cotto or Mosley's title if my understanding of the rules are correct; so if Pac can still win the title but drain his naturally bigger and stronger opponent in doing so, then I'm all for him exercising that option.

I wouldnt, I want to see Mosley vs Mayweather, with the winner getting the winner of Cotto vs Clottey or maybe even Williams.

I would like to see Pac vs Bradley with the winner getting the winner of JMM vs either Campbell, Velaro or Guzman.

Too many excuses to be given if Pac fights and most likely loses to one of the three in Shane, Floyd or cotto.

And that would be the only way that they would take the fight.

they can fight at any weight below 147 and it would still be for the 147 title. can anyone confirm the rules on this?

and what is wrong with this? pac barely was 140 in his fight with hatton coming in at 138. roach is not a stupid coach that he would just let shane and cotto all the advantages.

If I'm not mistaken, Leonard fought Lalonde at 168 and won both the 168 and 175 titles in doing so.

Well it could be said the other way around as well. If Pac wants to fight then he should fight them at thier best. What you and others are saying is that I want Pac to fight the shell of the fighters that are weak from cutting too much weight. Its really sad if you stop to think about it.

I dont like the idea of it, its like giving Pac a build in excuse for losing. Which is why I would rather he fought the guys in the weight range that his fans want to drag these bigger fighters down to. NO EXCUSES.

Even against Hatton, they said Pac had breakfast on the day of the weigh-in, and he still came in at 138. On fight night he was outweighed by what? 5 lbs? Even at 140, Pac is already smaller than the average.

So basically you're saying he should be fighting people like Valero, Marquez, and Bradley? Those are the guys who are really his size. Even Bradley is bigger.

At the end of the day, the fight we should be seeing is Pacquiao vs JMM III. JMM in a weak attempt to discredit Pac called out Floyd and now he is moving up more than 1 division for that fight.

Everyone wants Pacquiao to have all these disadvantages when fighting his opponents, but noone wants to give him credit if he does it.

The way I see it is Mosley is going out of his way to call out Pac who is the naturally smaller guy. He's the one going on Sportcenter and declaring his interest in a fight against Pac to all of the casual fans. In doing this, he loses all of his leverage imo. Pac knows he's a wanted man and if he elects to fight Shane he should use this leverage to gain an advantage on the scale against a naturally bigger man.

Yep he should be. Look man Oscar was a Zombie, and an easy mark I think mostly do to the weight. Oscar hadnt fought that light in almost 15 years. Cotto is having a hard time making 147. Truth be told should pac lose to one of them even at 142 people would cry they were too big. So what to point??? Either fighting a fighter that is too weak to fight and isnt at his best, or losing to a weakened fighter and making an excuse as to why he lost. For Pac and his fans its a win win. But the thing is what would it mean???

of course as a pac fan, i would like him to fight shane and cotto at 147 so that there would be no excuses. roach was not asking them to come down to 140 but to meet at a catchweight so that it would be fair to both parties.

for shane or cotto, this fight would not give them much credit because they pulled pac way out of his best weight. pac fighting them at 147 gives pac the better built-in excuse if he lose than pac fighting them at a catchweight.

Shane also said at 147. He said nothing about 142. Arum and roach was ok with Oscar fighting at 145 but they want Cotto, Mosley and floyd to come down to 142, or do they really not want those fights??? As I said I think that Floyd is the only one that can make 142 and still be strong, but then they say that he will have to do so for 35%. Too me this is Arum playing his media games with the fans once again. The guy has become a master of making people think that his fighters want these fights, but then they come up with off the wall **** to make sure the fights dont happen.

IE claiming to offer floyd 8 million when he was in line to make 20 million fighting Oscar, then having Wright say Ill fight Margo's ass only to have them lowball wright. In the end Arum claims no one wants to fight Margo. These after margo rejected the offer to fight floyd after judah lost and telling Floyd that the fight with Margo was worth the 7 million that floyd asked for in the beginning. Just look at Arum promoted fighters and all the bull**** around them.
