:goodjmm classic counterpuncher. i think his greatest asset is not speed or punching power, but his timing. floyd and manny also have pretty good counterpunching abilities themselves, like when they both connected on hatton when he threw those wide open hooks they both threw their punches after hatton launched his, but they landed before hatton could land his! that will not be the case with jmm

Well i agreed with everything until you started talking about ali, BECAUSE...

PAC came into this fight a 2-1 favorite. Ali went into that fight a HUGE underdog. And he shocked the world.

JMM is a great fighter at his very prime. Pac struggling against him is no shame.

because jmm is just that good. who else has given casa or diaz that much heart ache? if round 1 of their first fight had gone like the rest of the fight everyone would have been shocked at how easy jmm would have made it look. because of the knock downs pac built up a huge lead that only a masterful performance could have pulled back to even. and to do it with a broken nose, wow. thats why i have so much respect for that real warrior. when other fighters in the same situation have quit, this guy puts on a performance for the ages.

there are 3 reasons JMM almost managed to beat Pac.

From most important to least important
    1) JMM is a great fighter. (not even on the poll for some f'd up reason)
    2) Styles make fights. (Pac's style is pretty much tailor made for JMM)
    3) Pac struggled to make the weight. (His successes at 135-147 seem to indicate that 130 was way too low)

spot-on. jmm being a great fighter and being on the elite level should also be one of the main reason.

Why is it that I have a notion that most posters seem to have the idea that Pac struggled terribly while JMM coasted comfortablly.

If Pac had to go through hell fighting JMM, the same could be said of JMM against Pac. The second fight, there were numerous occassions that JMM was wobbled in that fight. The most beautiful one was the counter where Pac slipped a right while ducking.

Pacquiao has improved his style, but the intrinsic flaws remain the same and can be exploited by a world class counter-puncher. If he ever faces Mayweather he will have the same problems that he had against Marquez.

:good Exactly. The TS is spreading lies and scenarios that did not happen. Jokingly, he should banned for flaming Pac fans w/ unfounded arguments.

    You watch baseball?

You know Boston Red Sox pitcher Okajima?

The guy throws strikes with his head down.

Even if you felt Pacquiao won the fight, you can't deny that he struggled with Marquez. So it's kind of not relevant.

The option that's missing is: "Marquez is a great fight who would give every fighter trouble".
