Why im trying to say is fans dont want to credit those wins with their props, because they did not want that particular fighter to win.
Have you seen many of Bernard's fights? He fought cautiously arbitrarily throughout his career. Good sell, but I wouldn't put any stock in the Calzaghe match, and I wouldn't call it an "underrated win" for Calzaghe. "Controversial" and "highly disputed" would be better labels.
hahaha, yes but that didn't stop him from schooling everyone did it? He didnt school Calzaghe, seems like you didn't watch the fight, first three rounds to hopkins, after that, how you could score the majority of the rest of the fight for bernard is beyond me. controversial? he landed more and controlled the ring, hopkins was on the backfoot throwing single shots and was clearly very uncomfortable. highly disputed, only by people who can't score a fight it seems.
I'm an irishman and im not a calzaghe fan so this point means jack **** don't it? it isnt disputed by anyone whos not american and can score a ****ing fight, jesus christ I watched it expecting some sort of robbery judging by forum comments from pissed off americans, seemed pretty obvious to me what happened when I actually watched it again american boxing fans think AMERICA = THE WORLD
Yeah yeah, Im going from the poll numbers that were up after the fight. I have a habit of looking at polls and seeing how posters from different parts of the world veiws things, and what I noticed is simply those that lived in the UK thought Joe won really heavy, but those that didnt felt Hopkins won. Its not about America being the whole world which is what you cats always say dumb **** like that when we dont agree with you.
who are "us cats"? anybody who isn't american? you would think it's a continent the way you people talk. What you looked on some random polls on the internet and think you have a full survey on the world? **** what other people think, I have two eyes, I am a fighter myself, I watched the fight intently and Calzaghe won, it is so ****ing obvious that Hopkins ruled the first three rounds easily but after that Joe did what he does best and used rythm and combinations to frustrate his opponent and win the fight. Nothing controversial about it.
There are more than just US and UK members inhere! So its more only americans who had Hopkins as the winner!
Daisuke Naito over Pongsaklek Wonjongkom...Upset the long reign of the best flyweight of the era after losing in 30 secs to him several years earlier.
Your fact is mere speculation! The fact is that it was a very close fight, and is split by fans as well as the judges as to who the winner is. You clearly think Joe won, I feel Bernard edged it by 1...the fact is there were a few close rds. and depending upon how you scored those close rds, leads to your win. The fact is it was a close fight with Joe edging both the fans and judges scorecards, but in no way is a decisive victory! In light of all the Joe hating going on (I am personally not a fan), I don't want to diminish this win. While Hopkins age is a defense for many, and Hopkins was not in his prime..he was as has been stated a very high level fighter, who is a threat to anyone from MW-CW, so it stands as a very good win IMO...And if any can find a way to crticize Hop's age, Joe's 38 y/o body was also at an advanced age of his own. To me it showed both guys at an elite level even at their advanced ages, a testament to both of them!
