At about 6:50 of this interview, Taylor starts talking about how bad Hopkins trash talked him, and as a result there is still bad blood between him and Hopkins, almost 4 years after their fights. He's actually pretty funny about it; this is what he had to say:
Hopkins sucks!!!!! and it appears that Taylor does as well especially after the Froch fight....so, who cares what their love fest is about...
Jermaine's been in too many brutal fights since Hopkins Hopkins has barely been punched Jermaine's a genuinely lovely guy Hopkins is a **** **** giving Hopkins the chance for redemption Jermaine was his better and thats how it'll remain
Listening to the interview, JT mentions the fact that his corner told him that he needed the last 2 rounds about 5 different times. JT is never a excuse giver and didn't use that but that seemed to bother him. But in reality, the two judges who had him up big were off with their scoring. The fight was really close. The press row scoring was a lot more accurate where they all had it very close. So in retrospect, his corner was right. But the fact is, if JT had stayed up, he would've won the fight. JT sounds like he wants to fight for a lot longer. He always talks about wanting to get on top and winning again. So that's good news for JT fans. Hope he gets back in the ring soon for a tune up.
My god could you imagine what would happen if Taylor won again? Hopkins wouldn't hang them up until he was 60 in a mission to beat every other guy who Taylor would subsequently lose to, and then he'd go after the fighters who beat those guys if he couldn't get to them first.
Why? Who would benefit? IF Taylor wins Hopkins got old. If Hopkins wins he won over someone who is ranked about 6 or 7 at SMW... so what? It is a fight that makes no sense to either of them right now. If Taylor could win a belt then maybe, but not as things stand.
Yeah, in the interview he sounds VERY frustrated at his corner for telling him he needed the last two rounds when on two judges scorecards, he didn't. He felt he was ahead and he was right, but ignored his own instincts based on what his corner said. He didn't clinch during the last two rounds for exactly that reason - he was trying to win the fight. It's a long interview but a good listen for any Taylor fan.
We all know JT crossed the street when he saw Hopkins. Hopkins on the streets is a very dangerous man. They dont call him the Executioner for nothing.
