Pavlik fights two divisions above Floyd, who was a pound for pound fighter before he retired and still one of the hottest names in boxing two years later. He has never lost. How meaningful would it be if Pavlik took out little Floyd?

Hmmm. It wouldn't really mean **** would it. Floyd isn't a big welter. He would be moving up thirteen pounds from a division he never really solidified - not even close.

Than we have JMM another pound for pound fighter. JMM isn't a big lightweight and he is moving up after only two fights from a division he did not solidify but performed great in while he was there for a short stay.

He is moving up two divisions, or nine pounds to be exact. How meaningful is a Floyd win? An exciting interesting match up to be sure. But we all saw how JMM had his hands full with Juan Diaz even though he was hurting Juan and won by spectacular KO.

Great fight for Floyd especially if he wants Pac next, but a win over JMM is going to get the Floydettes in heat talking about how Floyd really beat JMM (if he even does it) something Pac didn't do .

Should Pacquiao go "Aha GOOD ONE Floyd!!!!! Now to respond, I am going to take on Gamboa at 140 followed by Linares!!"

    Compare their fight night weights.

Marquez and Floyd are closer in weight than Floyd-Mosley/Cotto.

So I guess mosley or cotto beating Floyd doesn't mean much according to you.

Mayorga's fight night weight has been more than Pavlik's, so I guess a Pavlik win over Mayorga would be stupendous according to you.

According to you it would be.

    Since weight is a factor.

Just do me a favor, stop using actual weigh in weights.

    Compare size.

Floyd and JMM are similiar in size. Floyd is bigger but you act like hes Paul Williams fighting JMM.

    Pavlik- Career MW

    Floyd-Began at 130

    Pavlik top fight night weight-174

    Floyd top fight night weight-150

24 pound difference, while JMM and Floyd are 10 pounds or less different on fight night at their highest weights.

A misleading comparison since Pavlik wasn't fighting at a middle vs Hopkins. We are talking about them fighting at 160. What is Pavlik's highest fight night weigh in at middle?

Floyd has essentially created his own weight class. Make smaller guys move up far out of their comfort zone so he has every advantage. Floyd isn't a big welter but when he faces smaller men than himself at the higher weight it is a big advantage.

You want to tell me that JMM and Floyd are close in size, well Floyd has a very significant reach advantage and is a bigger person, the point is, that even if Floyd wins, the significance of this win won't be earth shattering, due to the fact that JMM never fought anyone at 140 let alone above it.

I mean, maybe Floyd beats him. But maybe every top fifteen weltwerweight can beat Juan Manuel Marquez at 144. Pavlik beats Floyd but maybe every top middle beats Floyd, its likely.

I agree that the size of the frames of the men are important but Floyd handled second tier fighters at 140 and 147, JMM has not and we don't know that he can.

So what did Floyd gain over Hatton.

Considering that Hatton for one outweighed Mayweather.

Hatton also weighed 154. Exactly what he weighs when he fights at 140.

He is also the same size as Floyd.

Floyd didn't weight 140 the day before the fight did he? Like all of Hatton's other opponents, accept for Collazo, oh, yeah Collazo who nearly knocked him out...at 147.
