If Mayweather beats the handpicked small, old elite fighter, he MIGHT get a top3 spot.

If JMM pulls out the stunner of the decade (Floyd is ain't no shot and drained De La Hoya), obviously he'll go from #2 to #1.

It's funny how Marquez is number two pound for pound when he faces Pacquiao but he's an old, handpicked opponent when he faces Mayweather! For the 10,000 th time, what is the excuse going to be when Mayweather dominates Pacquiao? Will it be that Mayweather is too big? That's funny, I seem to recall Mayweather being a 130 pound champion at one time and he was refered to as lil' Floyd. If Pacquiao is great for defeating a 147 pound De La Hoya then what's the problem with beating a 147 pound Mayweather?

If floyds beats JMM then it's still pac.

If JMM KOes floyd then he is no.1 if not he's still stays at no.2

I agree with the posts saying JMM if he wins, otherwise Pac.

Nailed it...Marquez who gave the No. 1 P4P fighter in the world hell in two fights is now an old small cherrypicked fighter? Not even a Floyd fan, but I can't wait till Mayweather picks apart Manny in 2010 so I can laugh at the excuses.

How can JMM beating an unranked FMJ catapult him to #!. It will be unfair to all boxers now ranked in the P#P who have worked so much to achieve their status only to be demoted just because a former P4P#1 chooses to unretire.

FMJ's former status as #1 can't be basis to just rank him as high as No.#3 on his return.
    1. His lofty position was already on the brink of ???(being challenged) prior to his retirement as the No.#2 was then making waves in boxing.
    2. The long lay-off is a period where he could a have fought 3 fights. One can surmise that he could a have been sucessful in those fights...then, again he could a have been beaten. Beaten and his stock would surely have plummeted down. Even if he had been successful in beating his opponents, the manner of such wins would surely have affected his status in the P4P ranking.

    3. We don't know if Mayweather is still high in the rankings if he continued fighting in that lapse of time, given the possible match-up in the WW division.

I think, henceforth that it is a folly to rank FMJ in the P4P hierarchy prior to his fight with JMM and without that ranking, I don't think even if JMM beats him will it suffice to make JMM #1P4P...

Mayweather-Marquez is Number 2/Numero Dos, not what they are claiming as Number 1/Numero Uno.

Pacquiao is number 1 until the winner faces him and beats him.

The poll wasnt too clear, it will depend on who wins & how they win.

If JMM wins in any shape or form, he has a strong case... if Floyd wins easilly, he has a strong case... if Floyd wins & looks like ****, then Pac is still undisputed.

I voted the 1st option, purely because the poll choices werent good/clear enough & also because I knew that most would vote the 2nd option.

    :D :good

most likely pac still. but if jmm pulls the upset, he could be a co-p4p king. i just don't see floyd beating a naturally smaller man making him the p4p king. maybe i'll put floyd around #2 or 3 since i have pac and jmm way ahead of the others in the list. a close loss by jmm, i would probably retain him at #2 and put floyd at #3.
