i agree haye's reflexes and hand speed are great, and will be the key danger in this fight, but his foot work most of the time is pretty average. and he'll need to improve that area if he is to avoid wladimir at certain points in the fight.

what i find the most dangerous about haye is his lightning fast counter shots. the one where he is backing away from barrett before unleashing a hellacious uppercut, which had monte holding on. or the blistering counter right hand against maccerinelli which was the beginning of the end in that fight.

i really cannot see haye being of any threat to wladimir in anyway via pressure (which i really think is impossible for haye due to his limited stamina), or plain out attack. for haye to be of any danger in this fight it will come from circling out of reach similar to what ibragimov did, then throwing the best counter punches he can. and it will have to be a picture perfect counter punch to stun wladimir enough to follow up with a flurry of power shots. as wladimir has never been ko'ed or even seriously ****ed up by a single shot, let alone a barrage. yes, sanders hit him with a lot of shots, but i still believe sanders hits harder than haye any day of the week.

i think both manny and wladimir are well aware of this strength of haye, and will make sure to train for that particular tactic. the loss against sanders has given wladimir great wisdom for when he faces someone who can pull off similar powerful fast countershots.

he has very good speed, an good reflexes, an i think his most dangerous punch is his upper cut, it is what i think wlad has to watch out for,,,,but pizza face has got great speed, at least what i saw of him at cruiserweight,,,,he really should of took more time developing as a heavyweight before taking on the best....

He was fighting an aging HW who was never fast even in his prime. Given the hype about Haye's speed, he should have totally owned Barrett from the first round, which he clearly didn't. Upper body movement and reflexes for desense is a dangerous package when trying to avoid Wlad's punches. Chirs Byrd was the master of reflexes and movement from the hip for defense and Wlad gave two of his career - best performances againts Byrd. Sanders had great footspeed to attack Wlad, Haye doesn't seem to have that.

Exactly. Wlad has maestro Manny in his corner and they should formulate the perfect plan to beat Haye.

Who does Haye have advising him. Adam Booth. Adam Who? :huh

When Haye launches his right hand with real intent it's blisteringly fast, even at Cruiserweight where guys are a lot faster with their hands than Heavy, he was obscenely fast. Barrett, who is quicker than a lot of guys like Sam Peter or Valuev, was completely helpless in the face of Haye's handspeed.

He can be a little bit lazy with his jab, and his footwork is good but not exceptional, but when he commits to a punch and lets go the speed is absolutely overwhelming.

that is just it though Haye is not at Cruiserweight anymore. And the best opponent he has faced at Heavyweight was a faded Monte Barrett.

    I agree.

I honestly dont see the speed that everyone talks about from Haye. Id say Herbie Hide was quicker than Haye when he was a HW.

Haye's speed is okay, but its not what i would call impressive.

    good post but..
..i don't hink that haye will have the same "lack of defence" against a reflex-drained wlad.sure, wlads straight rights will have some success, but as haye works this out he will be stepping to the side and countering which he can do quicker than wlad.
i also think that haye will only unload when he has the angles, which will mean that wlads grabbing tactics will be rendered almost unaffective.
wlads strength will only last two rounds when he feels hayes power.
i think that hayes reflexes will win on the night and a changing of the guard is innevitably welcome.it's the right time.

Yeah, there was a knock down but that was a cheap shot by Barrett to a downed fighter when Haye was on the canvas.
