Is the catch weight of 144 a significant advantage for Mayweather vs Marquez?

Eze says it is not a significant advantage, I say yes it is a significant advantage. Who is right? Vote.

As opposed to what? Marquez going to 147?

Then it may be a slight advantage for JMM as Mayweather may be a little drained losing 3 lbs, but I don't think it'll matter.

Actually in the ring, I doubt they'll weight that much apart. But Mayweather is much used to fighting bigger guys, while JMM is used to fighting lightweights and guys below LW.

If we're comparing it to a catchweight of 140, then yeah, 144 is an advantage for PBF.

Marquez shouldn't step above 135 to be honest. But atleast Floyd is giving him some leigh-way with it being a catchweight under welter. Still one-sided though.

His body agrees with you but his pocketbook does not. Marquez has a chance at the upset but he is at a significant disadvantage at 144 vs Mayweather in my opinion. Sure Mayweather has the layoff the bad hands, there are other factors involved, I don't think making 144 will be an issue for Mayweather, but this one factor, weight of 144, is asking a lot to fight a guy like JMM who had his hands full at 135 to fight a guy like Mayweather who won't have to cut weight to 135 and in addition who will utilize every ounce of that 144 and gain more on fight night.

If JMM tries to weight 148ish on fightnight, will that even serve him? He is going up against a guy that can wield this higher weight more comfortably.

    It's huge advantage for Mayweather.
He has too lose 3lbs just for weigh-in. And considering his out of training weight isn't far from 147lbs, it shouldn't be too hard.

JMM has to put on 10lbs(since last fight) in fighting weight and still be able to compete against probably the best natural/talented fighter in the last 15 years.

YES: the weight of 144 IS a significant advantage for Floyd.
(On paper that is a 100% advantage)

Yes it is. From a guy that's already a small lightweight to go to 144lbs against a guy who's most comfortable at welterweight seems like a very easy scenario to judge.
