He seriously probably has to KO a heavy.

Another 147 in Langford did it against top 15 ATG heavy Wills, so Mayweather has to do something to match that for him to be my #1.

    It ain't happening, so whatever.

Nothing he can or will do will make him no 1.

Why fight Williams at 154? PW can bring his ass back down to 147.

Everyone sh*tting on the OP needs to reread the thread title. Obviously it's not going to happen, but if Floyd took and won all of those fights in dominant fashion, the legitimacy to his "GOAT" claim would skyrocket.

Bill, there's no way in hell anyone who has seen a good amount of boxing from the last half century would say Mayweather was on the same tier as guys like Whitaker in terms of skills. Ask McGrain, Sweet Pea, Sweet Scientist, Mantequilla, any of those guys. Mayweather was a great superfeatherweight and a very talented fighter, but he does not have the ability of a Whitaker or a Leonard, no way. In actual fact, Floyd has seemed to be better than he really is because most of the comp he has beaten has been merely decent. Guys like Whitaker and Leonard proved their skills by convincingly defeating far better opposition than Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Judah, past-prime Oscar, etc etc. Please don't be one of those new fans who sees slick skills and automatically equates that with elite greatness.

Yes, but he won't do that, so it's a pointless hypothetical. If Pacquiao wins titles up to light-middleweight, he'd have a good case too. Hell, if Erik Morales comes back and beats Chad Dawson to win a lhw title, he'd have a great shout too. But such discussions are VERY pointless.

To say he is a 5-weight champion is an impressive statement in itself, but it's not really that impressive when you consider his comp at 140, 147 and 154. Pacquiao has beaten better comp to become a 6-weight champion, as did Oscar.

Yes, but he won't add all that other ****, and he will never be easily ahead of Whitaker.

Probably because if would be seen as more of a challenge for Floyd because Paul gets a bigger size advantage due to the fact Floyd won't weigh more than 150.

Exactly. People forever see slick skills and a zero and automatically put them on the same level as the Whitakers and the Leonards and the Durans. It's a rookie mistake if ever there was one.

See the way Floyd struggled with a past-prime Oscar before Oscar stopped jabbing and started gassing. See the way Floyd struggled sporadically with Judah, Augustus, and the way he lost to Castillo - all of which were in his prime years.

Don't get me wrong, Floyd was a truly GREAT boxer. But he does not belong in the same tier as Whitaker or Leonard or Duran - true proven all-time elite greatness. He showed good skills, but not against consistently top level comp, therefore placing him alongside those who did is not justifiable.
