    Vargas' prime was at 154
    Mayorga's at 147

Vargas had speed, skill, and power.

    Very short punches etc...

When Mayorga fought Vargas, Vargas was shot to hell, and he could have won had it not been for the KDs.

waiting for a wiki-fool to say (but Mayorga was a 2-weight world champ. & actually BEAT Vargas).

Mayorga beat Vernon Forrest twice. That's it.
Everyone else worth mentioning, he lost to... even when he could've been gifted a victory vs. Mosley, he still ended up getting KTFO'd in the final round... despite having won most of the rounds in that fight vs. a lackluster Sugar Shane! Also got beat by Spinks. Tito & Oscar (though they did also beat Oscar).
He's fought very good boxers but only beaten Forrest!

    Vargas.
Scalps of Winky, Raul Marquez, Campas..., Wilfredo Rivera by TKO (previously only losses were TKOs vs. Oscar & Sugar-Shane!).

then he'd lost to prime-Shane by two knockouts @ 154 (if he'd have even made the whole fight w/o getting KO'd at that time you woulda given him a moral victory!!!), got TKO'd by a better Tito than the one who TKO'd Mayorga 4 years later (in fact, Vargas even lasted longer!).

& Vargas put a beatdown on Oscar in the first half of their fight.
    Mayorga can't say the same!..

Do you really beleive that? two things to consider, Vargas only looked that good cus he was juiced up for the fight, and honestly DLH IMO was allowing Vargas to throw away all he had so he could step it up in the mid rounds and take over, which he did, Vargas also got schooled By Oscar.

I think both in their Primes, Mayorga had a better Chin in his prime, Vargas has always had a shakey chin, I think Mayorga stops him honestly

in a close fight yes it was, But lets not forget 2 factors in that fight, 1 Ike was comming off of a long lay off ring rust played a factor, and lets not also forget this was Ikes first fight as a Jr Middleweight there was no tune up bout for Ike to Adjust, fight was close had Ike not had that lay off I think he would have beat Vargas

    I'm an Oscar fan... fooL!

Vargas was physically putting it on, Oscar.

Oscar was getting beat down, mayne... he wasn't allowing ****. He was trying to implement what Floyd Sr. had taught him to no real avail for the first-half. But with some good cornering..., the boxer-puncher came back to win. For once, he wasn't the one who tired!

roids or no roids... Vargas is a physically-imposing dude. He would have STILL pushed Oscar around.. just not hurt him as much. Vargas was a tad underrated as far as I'm concerned. His cardio was never great, though. Nor is Mayorga's, either. That's something Tito has on them both (and it's far from the only thing, obviously!)

I actually didn't think it was that close...I'm not sure but I think I had it 8 to 4 for Vargas...If Ike had been active and more accustomed to the weight the fight woulda been closer, but I think Fernando's style gives any version of Ike problems. Fernando simply outworked Ike...
