Good for you for reading this thread!!!!

"You are ready to step into a much larger world"

    Aleck Guiness, 1978

As the forum's chief and most experienced poster I have an obligation to post a free of charge boxing history clinic. There is an obvious need for boxing history knowledge in today's troubled waters and the classic side of things holds no boundaries either.

today's session is on a matchup between two great punchers, or at least one of which is great. Corrie Sanders will play the role of the great puncher, and his counterpart Joe Louis will be the close second ( even though there are many in between. )

We have all heard the hoopla on Louis before. Won the title from Jim Braddock, beat a bazillion fighters who were ring ranked, knocked out a bushel full of men who held the title in one century or another. Bla, bla, bla, bla...

Corrie Sanders is a real great piece of work though. Retired with a final record of 41-4-31 through the age of 42, had some of the fastest hands of all time, great punching power, stood 6'4", weighed over 225 lbs, and was most. of all, a south paw.

To educate the majority. Louis was floored and nearly beaten half to death by much smaller fighters who had a left hook. Sander's handspeed beats anything that Galento, Walcott, BRaddock or anyone else had. He had size and power to go along with it too. Louis isn't beating Sanders.. He is losing. The brown bomber is getting bombed.

    Sanders KO 3 Louis.

O dear god. So pathetic. Corrie Sanders is the 2nd most overrated fighter of all time next to Vitali Klitschko. Did you know Corrie Sanders did not even become a Ring Magazine top 10 contender until his 13th year as a pro....MORE IMPORTANTLY His career record against Ring Magazine top 10? 1-2!!! He also was knocked out in his prime by the all time great nate tubbs! The first time he fought a world class fighter, he was knocked out by a weak chinned hasim rahman in 7!

I love Vitali fans. trying to boost a one hit wonder Journeyman like sanders into a "Super Southpaw Freak of nature". Its Hilarious.

Did you know that Tony Galento was a fat cigar smoking pig who never trained and was only ranked because of his mafia buddies in Jersey. Wow and he still floored Louis. Jim Braddock was a nobody with 25 losses and was out of the ring for two years, malnurished, no power, nothing, and he still floored a prime Louis.

When a man has a glorius 66 fight career, its easy to pick out a few bad spots.

Whereas I think Sanders had a little more natural ability than does SuzieQ, he just does not have the kind of wins on his record to be named in the same breath as Louis, and as our man pointed out, that Nate Tubbs loss was downright embarrasing.

    Sorry.

Also, I would like to defend Galento. The man was known to be freakishly strong. The story was that he used to deliver big barrels of ice that most men couldn't roll by just lifting them up and carrying them up staires all day long. He may have been fat and unskilled, but the man has incredilble power.

Sanders couldnt do **** with Vitali. So really what are we saying here?

Wladimir defeated Byrd who Vitali couldnt beat. Vitali defeated Purrity and Sanders who Wladimir couldnt beat. So, does this mean that Ross Purrity and Chris Byrd are in the top 15 HW's of all time, too? C'mon let the excuses fly now...

Nothing like a good chuckle ... the same Sanders that was flattened by Rachman ? Pretty funny ... Louis would have beat him to death in three rounds ...
