I've always considered 'ducked' to be a term that implies 'fighter a' has stayed away from 'fighter b' due to him being scared of the outcome and thinking he wont win.

I wouldn't say Hatton ducked Witter, but I'd say he avoided him.

I'm no big Hatton fan btw.

I always get very suspicious when someone has more than one excuse for not doing something. Hatton has ducked Witter for so long and for so many different 'reasons' that you have to conclude he just doesn't fancy the fight.

He didn't want to fight Witter because JW was too boring but when Witter went on a KO streak it was suddenly because Witter wasn't a world champion. After Witter won the WBC title he was told that he wasn't well known in America. After JW destroyed Vivian Harris Hatton said 'I don't want to fight him because he upset me'

    What a load of rubbish.

    TFFP.....

    I did say personal reasons.

Whether or not you accept those 'personal reasons' as being suitable is up to you :good

It made perfect sense when he was actually fighting top opponents, not other domestic fighters that weren't as good as Witter, as well the plethora of WBU cans that could have easily been swapped for Witter and ultimately been a far more credible win on the resume.

Even after this he said he'd fight Witter when he won a "real world title". Well..he did that...and when Witter's people accepted the 100k on offer they chose that guy Lazcano.

You think those excuses happened in that order and timescale?

Hatton had just lost to Mayweather the fight before. Witter was a very dangerous opponent to fight on a first fight back. Hatton should fight Witter now before retiring. That way he would restore some credability

Something like that. Probably not in that order. But why did he need so many excuses?

I don't know about you guys, but for my money that is the ALL-TIME excuse for ducking a fighter, ever. Top marks for originality.

No idea, I think he should have fought him and shut him up but as I've said above I dont think he 'ducked' him.

    No-one has answered my point:

    Castillo
    Tszyu
    Malignaggi

all fighters beat by the fat one.

What does Witter have those fighters don't? Malignaggi is faster, slicker, better technically. Tszyu punches harder. Castillo has one of the best body shots in the business. Tszyu and Castillo have experience, have a tons of world belts and defences between them.

Witter got his ass handed to him by some 20 yr old.

Normally if you really dislike another fighter you want to beat them up. Not exactly working class approach their.

Would any one on the forums in hattons shoe's i.e. taking big fights moving up in weight looking for defining fights and challenging p4p fighter 's take a step back in every sense by fighting witter?
The only person who wants it was witter himself who either way had a lot to gain.
I like ricky and witter for the record
