Arguably Pacquaio has 2-3 fights left and then he moves onto politics.

Cotto will probably fight on for longer than that so I ask you this: If Cotto beats Clottey, beats Mosley again, beats Margarito in a rematch, beats Williams and beats Berto (all hypothetical of course) how would you view his career?

Asides from the money does he need Pac and to beat Pac for boxing greatness? Or would that be cemented by doing the above?

I think he's right not budge on the weight issue. Manny says he's comfortable at 140 but he had no problem in doing welter for the ODLH fight and Cotto, to me, needs to stay at 147. And go nowhere near 142,143.

hmm says... you listed a lot of good wins so to answer your hypothetical, NO he wouldn't need Pac. That would be a damn impressive resume. 144-145 seems reasonable to me as a catch-weight if neither are budging. Also, NO he doesn't need Pac in general.

you've got to beat great fighters to be a great fighter and out of your list only mosely is a great fighter and he's old now. so cotto would need to beat some true elite fighters to be considered great and there aren't many around, but pac is one of them. and considering cotto spent most of his career at 140 up until a few years ago, a catchweight of 143-144 is not unreasonable. i think margo and mosely in rematches and williams all beat cotto though.

i dont really like cotto, throughout the last couple of years, cotto vs mayweather was on evreyones lips it needed to happen but cotto never seaid anything that he needed mayweather, evreybody balmes mayweather for the fight not happening but i blame cotto, as i cant recall him calling him out, and can somebody ask me why he didnt fight kostya or hatton in 140 or call them out, i think he is to boring, guys a great fighter, but i just dont think he generates enough intrest as mayweather, or pac does when they fights,

    and yes cotto needs pac

What for? Pac is a LWW. Let the WW's fight each other!

Pac needs Cotto as a scalp for his resume and not the other way around...

A big man never needs a small man. But a small man beating a big man always looks good.

No he is a 147 lber . . . just for the money and HYPE.

If he wins against Clottey . . . he should start calling out Floyd. :deal

He doesn't need Pacquiao imo. And if Cotto should beat Pacquiao, you can guarantee that a lot of people would be saying Pac was too small or some bull****. The most he gets out of this is money.
