i think khan wins on points.if he gets knocked out by kotelnik i will buy into this bad chin theory cos he isnt a banger.against prescott he got caught cold and panicked after the first knockdown

Disagree slightly, its definatly not a full blown world title fight but Kotelnik is a good fighter. Everyone was bigging Gavin Rees up before the Kotelnik fight and he took him apart, so if Khan wins he should get recognision as a world champ, but shouldn't get ahead of himself.

It's a world title fight in so far as its a fight for a world title.

No one outside family and friends was bigging up Gavin Rees.

Kotelnik didn't take Rees apart either. Far from it really. Rees wore himself out if I remember rightly.

Kotenik is a bit slow and robotic and Khan can easily outwork him if he keeps it on the outside. It will be a test of Khan's stamina, mental and physical.

I think he'll do it with a scary moment or two along the way. But if he fights silly and expends a lot of nervous energy he could get stopped late.

It will be a very, very respectable win at this stage.

Kotelnik outclassed Rees easily. Don't be fooled by Woodhall, that his worse ever performance under the mic and his scorecard was a sick joke; likely filled out on the morning of the fight. He was loving giving Rees the rounds.

Rees landed **** and was getting tagged clean all the way through by a far classier operator. He wore himself out by walking onto right hands.

Sadly I don't think Kotelnik will have the same level of success this time because of the difference in physical attributes. Kotelnik had all the advantages in that fight, but in this one the boot is on the other foot and he's likely going to have to time something good and stop Khan.

Neither of them are top 5. The title is just a piece of leather with a biscuit tin in the middle. Until Khan or Kotelnik beat Manny they are not world champions. Just guys who have won 'world' titles. Kotelnik would be a tiny favourite over Romanov, if Romanov stepped up in weight. He's no world beater and was poor last time out. Reality is this is nothing more then a decent international matchup.

Roach is 456-87 with fighters in his corner.

Kotelnik is solid enough but he is pretty one-paced. His style reminds me of a smaller, slower Oscar De La Hoya. I think Khan will TKO him, he's too quick.

Why was he poor last time out? He was facing an unbelievably aggressive guy with a 95% KO ratio. That ain't no easy task if your style is to try and box to a decision. Hell, the last time Khan dealt with a powerful crude guy he got starched, I don't think people would be all that confident if he was dealt the same hand as Kotelnik by getting that fight with Maidana. Kotelnik had his rocky moments as should be expected, but he just about sneaked through and it could have gone either way.

I don't think Khan ever deserved this fight against Kotelnik, it was a bit of a disgrace how he suddenly came from beating a bloated faded legend who couldn't see at 135lbs to getting a title shot at 140lbs. However, it will be a good win for Khan against a solid world class fighter. This is the best chance he'll ever have, against a non-puncher that is made for him stylistically.

Yes he's just like De La Hoya. He's got one head, two arms, two legs, does boxing as a profession and he also is a man.

Your right- what a great comparison. :thumbsup

I've seen him fight. He's got no skill whatsoever, but boxing is not just skill. If a guy is never discouraged by anything and throws bombs first to last you have a problem on your hands and that was the case with Maidana.

It's proven time and time again, strong powerful guys that can't box can still achieve in boxing.
