Lets stay on Topic here, forget about fights he lost that he should have won and fights he won that he should have lost that isnt what we are talking about. There is nothing you can say, that can dispute the truth about what this Author is saying, Hopkins does fight like John Ruiz, but becuase he has that thugish Hip Hop straight out of Prison image, the american fans give him a pass. Look his style is not any different than Ruiz, he jabs and clinches then moves on to holding and hitting and headbutting, there is no difference other than the name, Ruiz and Bernard both are guilty of this, so is Ricky Hatton since his fight with Kostya. You can sit here and talk about what he has accomplished all you want, but the truth is Hopkins is no different, in his fight with Tarver and Pavlik he didnt do any of that it was all pure Boxing but in fights with Tito, with Taylor, Winky, Eastman, along with Echoles and a few others you can not sit there and tell me that the man wasnt holding and hitting just as much.
BTW this thread is over a year old this subject has been beaten into the ground. I do not know why this is even being discussed the person that bumped it had to go waaaaaaaay back in the posting history to find it.
This is ****in stupid.... Hopkins has been one of the greatest boxers in history, he's not recognised half as highly as he should be especially in this country. Who cares what anyone says before a fight, its just to sell tickets. And if he cheats then he gets punished, and if he doesn't then blame the referee for not spotting it. If you have no interest in watching him again its your loss. Hopkins deserves more respect than **** like this.

I don't have a problem with Hopkins but he is at times a boring fighter and in the Calzaghe fight he fought just like John Ruiz and it ruined the fight. He is not getting a pass just because he is Bernard Hopkins.
He's not a racist... and that **** was so over the top. I mean come on, black guys say **** about 'white boys' all the time, and it isn't meant maliciously, it's usually said with humour. The reason we can't say the N word is because of our appalling history and where that word comes from. Im proud of my race and what not, but I don't think there was much wrong-doing and I think that the whole thing has been taken way too far. Besides, isn't half of BHop's team white?
Listen its like I said there is no justification for it what so ever regardless what the white race has done it still does not give anybody that right to say **** like that. I am sorry but Hopkins in my eyes and in the eyes of many is a racist, and he deserves to be treated that way, and about half of his team being white, where the **** did you get that from he works with GBP Latinos for god sakes get a ****ing clue.
It was pretty clear Hopkins wanted out of that fight. He realized by the 4th he was going to loose. Getting hit with punches he could not see coming was too much for him to handle. So we got a lot of holding and a lot fouls. He made a mistake fighting Joe at that stage of his career. Combined with his very foolish and very raciest comments he had talked himself into a corner were the only way out was a win or a dq. To bad for him mabie next time he can save himself the embaressment and leave race out of it.
hopkins is a bit of a plank really. all that **** before the fight and then the hugging and low blows etc. I lost all respect for hopkins that night. i stayed up untill 4am and payed with my hard earned cash to watch him single handidly ruin a fight. WANKER!
