There's no way Marquez can make it against Mayweather based on his fighting style and obviously on size. Marquez, who is much smaller and you just have to watch them in picture side by side, doesn't have a fighting style of a small man ready to bull a taller man. Marquez is slick and picks his punches on the countermove and in combinations and he's not gonna take the fight to Mayweather fighting in his usual ways. He will have to adapt and turn fast into a hooker and a press forward banger which is perfect for Floyd who will have just to skip some shots on the inside and let his hands go whenever he needs to. Only problem for Floyd right here is that Marquez has the stamina and athleticism to keep the pace really high.

You want to compare Corrales who was beyond shot/wasted(after serious wars in previous fights) at that point, couldn't make weight, forced to move up and coming off a SD loss to Casamayor and a KO in the 4th to Castillo two fights before to Marquez who's moving up on choice and coming off two KO victories over Casamayor and Diaz?

It's that simple. He comes up with his idiotic quote while failing to realise people will cotton on to that simple fact. He's a great fighter, he doesn't need to do what he does. They weighed 135 for a couple of hours before putting 10lbs of water back in their bodies, I don't buy Diaz only went up 5lbs because he's always over 150 come fight night. Marquez maybe was 140, but he planned his next fight at 140 anyway and plans to come in at a solid 145+ on fight night. So all in there will be 5lbs splitting them on fight night

Did you know Floyd and Marquez both started at 130?

Floyd is usually 10lbs lighter than his opponent, why shouldn't he be 5-10lbs more for once? He hasn't fought for 18months after all.

Fighting someone only 5-10lbs smaller that is P4P top3 is no easy fight where your coming back from a long lay off. Especially when both focus on boxing more than outmuscling opponents

The only reason Floyd's a big favourate isn't because of size, its because he does what JMM does only better and with more speed and a better defense. If this was the LW Mayweather of the early 2000s JMM would be just as big an underdog

This isn't the hottest match up of all time but its a very good comeback fight and JMM is a live under dog

 

PBF is a legit WW and a really damn good one and so is SSM...Its embarrasing that he wants to fight JMM instead of any other legit WW...If you think otherwise, then you're absolutely out of your mind...:good

Whats done is done, the fght is contracted for 144 lbs and we all have to live with that.
......had it been lower, Mayweather if victorious would get more credit......but its at 144 lbs and his accomplishment is downsized because of it.....

.....the opposite is true for JMM, if he's victorious, the accomplishment become even more magnified, as he's beating a Welterweight who's been at that weight for a while.

When Mayeather fought DLH, people were saying that DLH was a hasbeen and a part-time fighter.....people were unwilling to give Mayweather the proper credit because of it.
I was'nt one of those. I felt that though DLH was on the decline, Mayweather had a tough task in that he was going up to a weight that he'd never been close to being in his life.......so although DLH was on the decline and Mayweather was prime, that fact that the fight was at 154 lbs offset the youth advantage by Mayweather.
I gave Mayweather the proper credit, I thought beating that version of DLH at DLH's weight was a great win.


The tables are reversed now......Mayweather is not only the bigger fighter, but unlike DLH who was bigger but older, Mayweather is both bigger and younger.
Mayweather is closer to his prime than JMM is his......

.....thats why this fight should have been at 140 lbs, the smaller and older JMM was'nt asking for an advantage, he was only asking for Mayweather to meet him halfway as far as the weight......but Mayweather did'nt accept that, and win or lose he will suffer the criticism for it afterward.



Btw friend, I can respect your opinions, but you're just offbase as far as the fightnight weights for both JMM and Juan Diaz......

I dont know why peope equate Juan Diaz with being a big lightweight.....he's simply not.....Diaz has never weighed more than 140 lbs on fightnight in his life.
Juan Diaz has always been like Mayweather, he weighs in and usually he's within 3 lbs of that when he steps into the ring.
Diaz was under 140 lbs vs Campbell as well.
Diaz is not a big lightweight.
