Freddie has, and always will, just call it as he sees it.

PBF has had a lot incredible performances. But at most they were displays of his tremendous boxing skills. So I guess his fights with Corrales or Gatti were career defining in a sense that it showed us just how good he is. But

Personally I agree with Roach in a sense that so far, PBF hasn't had a fight with enough drama (not including the whole Zab Judah low blow incident that is, lol), or competitiveness in it to be called a great fight. Or simply put, PBF doesn't have fights that would qualify as FOTY yet. Of course, it isn't really his fault that he's just that good.

I for one would love to see a PBF fight where he is really tested. To see him in a fight where he has to put all of his skills to use just to win.

corrales initially weighed in at 132 and had to sweat for an hour just to make weight...

Then Corrales went on to fight for two titles at 130 after that.

To be honest there wasnt much for Floyd to fight that he didnt fight up unitl the past few years starting about 2006. Before that Floyd fought the best that was there for him to fight. He tried to get PoPo Freitas in the ring at 135 and he turned it down. Saying that he was comfortable at 130 only to move up in his next fight...What Im saying is you have to have someone that can push up to a defining fight, floyd has only had blowouts, even in fights that were suppose to be defining fights. Is that Floyds fault???

All he can do is try to get guys to fight, but in the case of Floyd he takes the blame for every fight that didnt happen even in cases were he offered the fights.

    My bias: Floyd annoys me.

But: Corrales was a big fight; Floyd killed him. If Castillo II was close, it could have been "defining", but it wasn't. Gatti was "the bigger man", but everyone knew he wasn't good enough. Hoya... well, Floyd just played it as safe as he could and then the victory was diminished by Oscar's disaterous decision to try 147 again.

Floyd is a victim of his success and his style. In a way, Roach is right... in another way, Floyd just doesn't lend himself to it. Floyd doesn't get in wars; that's why he wins - nobody can make him fight their fight (and nobody can out-box him).

Can Pac do that? Maybe. But I suspect that if Floyd wins, it won't be all that exciting.

But every Ali needs his Frazier... (seriously, how COOL would a Floyd/Pac trilogy be... it could happen, with age beginning to become a factor).

The Casa fight hardly qualifies as a potential career defining win for JMM. Not when he's has battles with Pac, Barrera, and Diaz and not at the stage of Casa's career in which he fought him.

Beating Gatti isn't career defining for a truly great fighter. Corralles probably was, Hatton at welter, we already saw what Collazo did.

Older DLH at 154 yes but he didn't get a clear victory there.........

Castillo 2 is it then I guess but some would say that only makes him 1 and 1 with Castillo

Avoiding the prime winning welters of his era will be his career defining action, clearly.
