Will a fight with Mayweather be possible and would it be as lucrative as it was a year ago?

At some point, they say. Cotto is on Mayweather's "hit list."

I would love to see it happen, and I see no reason to think it wouldn't do the same numbers.

Funny how things change in boxing in the space of a year a year ago this was the dream fight everyone wanted.

Both undefeated,Cotto was top 3 pound for pound a year ago,Pacquiao was said to be to small to fight at 140 and 147 and when a Pacquiao-Hatton fight was mooted Hatton was going to be to big for Pac we all saw what happened there:lol:

i would say yes, plus people won't frown upon it the way they would a Cotto-Pac fight.

I'm interested in what happens w/Cotto post Clottey fight regardless.
here is my scenario for Cotto post Clottey.

If Cotto wins, I expect him to land the Pacquaio fight.
If Cotto loses, I expect a Rematch w/Clottey, followed by a Maragrito II (in PR)

An L for Cotto Vs. Clottey kills forever a Mayweather fight, PBF won't fight him.

I think Cotto will crack under the pressure...Clottey is so much more durable that Cotto...

It's possible, but most likely after(if) Pacquiao loses to one of them.

Not so sure about that, although their Margarito fights does suggest Clottey is the more durable fighter, the two fights were completley different. Cotto has extreme durablity, as he's shown against Zab and Torres.

If Cotto beats Clottey I'd love to see a rematch with Margarito, although it seems unlikley now. Cotto-Mayweather would be an amazing fight, although i think Mayweather would win using his uppercut.

If Cotto wins in impressive fashion, I'd be interested to see how the "big names" respond. My inkling is that Mayweather will continue to duck him for the foreseeable future, Mosley will call him him out, but only on the westcoast, and Pac's people will continue to insist on a catchweight. I'm thinking Berto might emerge as a viable option for an end of the year showdown.
