for once i agree with you, i see alot more in him then i do in the other 2

 

but the road to stardown must pass through paul williams

 

and Rigondeaux's has to pass threw Juanma which is much worse

it's a pretty live division, just that there aren't any superstars in it, Dzinziruk's probabbly the best kept secret in boxing and Martinez and Angulo are ready to make statements, not to mention some WW's could move up sometime in the near future

 

Why are you righting of Rigondeaux already? It was the guy's pro debut for **** sake. He hasn't had a fight in 2 years, and he got caught what twice the whole fight?

Luis Garcia is pushing Lara very close anyway.

 

I haven't seen enough of Rigondeaux to make any kind of definitive judgement. I doubt many of us have, especially those getting their first real taste last night. Really, was it even necessary for him to hold his hands up against that petrified waste of ring space they had him in with? The guy he was fighting was a total can. The fight only lasted as long as it did because Rigondeaux was toying with him and just stretching his wings a bit. I think it'd be a little bit presumptuous to assume there's not plenty more beneath the surface, and he clearly has great physical tools, at least. There's still a lot to see, I'd wager.

All that said, you had to be more impressed with Lara last night, as his full skill-set was on display against an opponent who actually had a pulse. He has some impressive tools as well, no doubt about that. The future looks bright for him, and the Cuban scene in general.

 

I think he will fight at MW soon.

I don't know how you make career conclusions based on a single fight, which happened to be Rigondeaux's first ever professional contest, that after years of forced lay-off, being dragged back to Cuba like a prisoner, banned from boxing, total humiliation in front of the nation and just managed to escape to a country where professional sports are allowed. Add the pressure of not knowing what's going on with the family back in Cuba and on the AFTERNOON of the fight he still didn't know whether he's allowed to fight or contractual disputes will yet again KO to do what he only knows - but knows like few other: performing in the ring.

So after all that, in 3 rounds of debuting action, Rigo was caught by 2 shots. Don't you think you jump on conclusions a bit too early? :think

 

Yeah it's a loaded division for sure. Even if Kirkland does like a year he's still not going to be that old yet. Lara seems to me to be the best long term as well. Trying to change him won't be too hard because he's already so solid technically and I like how patient he is. Lara only needs a little tweaking here-and-there. Trying to change the other 2 would be harder and they have flaws that don't exactly bode well for the long term.
