Rigo has had the same habits that could hurt him in the pros. I expect him to be a champion but after all those years of fighting the way he has I dunno if he will adjust. Still, just on his talent alone he could be the best and yes, he should not be judged to harshly after one fight.

It could be that when he fights better comp he will step it up. There's just some habits he's had for sometime that could hurt him. I hope he gets with a top trainer in the near future to bring out the best of his natural ability because it's obvious how much he has.

 

yeah, that sounds about right.....only chance of that division being hot is some of the other lower division guys follow him up there or are already there when he makes his move, otherwise the MW division will be in a drought for a while

I think he said just a few days ago, that he plans to move down to 147.

Of course, of Rigondeaux, Gamboa, Barthelemy and Lara, Erislandy might stay on the top longer, but it's no rocket science: he's the youngest of the crew and still in developement.

Acosta, Perez and of course Garcia are a boxing generation younger, so they don't even have to be rushed or anything, but Garcia is stepping up again. He's a bit of a raw talent (just like Perez, who's unfortunately out for a few months), but fights and moves forward like a beast. Of the young generation, I'd mention Barthelemy's and Gamboa's younger brother, both of them could start their pro career at some point if I'm correct.

Fans of Cuban boxing are in for a treat for the upcoming decade. :deal

he looks like a supermiddle in his sparring with hatton...if he decides to add muscles in his legs he can easily move to middleweight

Anyone seen much of Alexei Acosta? He looks like a huge puncher but pretty wild.

 

Of the past decade of amateur Cuban stars, it was always Rigondeaux who fought the most pro-like. Gamboa is too aggressive for his own good but it seems he's finally adjussting. But as for Rigondeaux, years and years ago he was already compared to Pernell Whitaker. He's much more complete as a pro than Gamboa ever was, including the last 2 years in the pro ring. But also there's a difference: as his American idol, he's a counter-puncher too, so we shouldn't expect Gamboa like of short and exciting performances - he's a master technician, often simply called as 'Pernell Whitaker with a punch.' It would've been awesome to start his pro career back in 2007, because nobody will give him that wasted 2 years back.

 

I think he'll be a champ and be brought along a lot slower than gamboa and rigondeaux but he won't get the recognition or win a title as close to his pro debut as rigondeaux and gamboa and i'm willing to bet that gamboa walks away with titles in 3-4 weight division before he walks into the sunset. the thing is though gamboa WILL get knocked out a few times throughout his run and Lara will rarely lose if at all. but all in all i bet gamboa walks away with the most accolades despite lara being better technically.
