the one greatest accomplishment that bobby did during his proffesional career is common knowledge to you guys.

how good was he? great amature, even a shadow of aaron pryor is still a world class fighter im assuming, seemingly not as consistant looking at his record.

could he have won a alphabet title?

Bobby Joe was a club-fighter who was at the bottom of the top-10 in the middle 80s.... He was a welterweight..... He stopped a shot Aaron Pryor in 1987....... Bobby Joe never made it big on the world class circuit.... He was good to okay at best......... Nothing special......... He still lives off the KO of Pryor to this very day........ Had he never fought Pryor, he'd be totally forgotten............... Cheers......

Actually Bobby Joe Young could hit HARD.He got rushed into a fight with Kevin Howard and lost a decision and Young never rebounded too well from that loss.ut for a little bit Young was onethe hardest hitters in the welterweight divison.

Much better post. Young at one time was considered the hardest hitter at 147 but never fulfilled expectations.

To this day i still feel the'punch' he landed on Pryor was indeed a clash of heads.

Bobby Joe probably falls into that catagory "Failed Prospect" Like Jose Baret and Engels Pedroza, a good puncher but with parts of the Jigsaw Missing which ultimately denies them success at top level and and a chance of sustained contendership, But they are exciting to have around until they get found out.

I always felt that that loss to Howard hurt him.He wins that fight, and probably meets up with McCrory, or Curry in a title eliminator.I think McCrory would've probably beaten him, and probably Curry also, but he had a definite shot of coldcocking Curry.

People need to remember the Pryor fight was at WW, on top of Pryor being out of shape, seriously on drugs and on top of all this he wasn't sparked out or anything. He misread the count and seemed capable of continuing.

Very nicely put. I'll add Alex Ramos to your fine little list.

Pretty good fighter when he started out, was considered on par with Curry, Starling, and McCrory, after the loss to Howard, faltered, but the man could hit.
