yeh 16's are huge and are well cushioned that i can take a left hook in the nuts and still stand up fighting. :smoke
Put on some 8 ouncers and you will see lol...massive difference dude. Hey did you manage to get in yesterday to peacock gym? I almost got crushed
im not sure about a 2 oz. difference but seeing how much a 4 oz. difference mattered to me it sure seems like it would. i've been boxing with 14 oz. reyes gloves only for almost 10 years. i finally got some 10 oz. grant amateur gloves and let me tell you it feels like im not even wearing gloves. the speed difference is ridiculous.
The smaller the guy the more he notices the difference and at a higher lever small things make a bigger difference. A sceptic could point out that Floyd was used to the heavier gloves but Hatton wasn't. Floyd forced Hatton out of his best weight while Manny beat him right there, and now Floyd is fighting JMM at a higher weight than he could go down to if he wanted. Floyd is a great fighter, no doubt, but he does like to tip the odds into his favour rather than face adversary head on. He could easily have taken on Hatton, and now JMM at more comfortable/proven weights for them and certainly beaten Hatton, probably JMM too. He does leave himself open for criticism.
Very big differeance...it changes your timing...helps speed and adds to pop... I can tell the diff and I used to fight @ 205... I bet the difference at 147 is much bigger...
I use to spar, shadow, and hit the bag with 16 oz gloves. When I put on 10 oz gloves, it did feel like I had no gloves on and it was very painful for my opponents since I was a heavy handed fighter. Speed and power come to play.
So it looks like Khan wants 10 ounce gloves to fight Maidana. Maidana wants 8-oz, but Khan won't agree. In Nevada, at 135, 140, and 147 both sides have to agree to use 8 ounce, otherwise they have to use 10 ounce. Cowardly! :verysad
