ive been sayign it for a while this guy ****ing ownes he should be the ufc lhw champ already and hes going to be by years end
i agree. ive been praising him for a while now.. the key to beating machida is alot of feinting.. you have to use his superb reflexes against him.. hes so alert that you cant hit him with one shot. its only when he REACTS that you go after him and when he moves or lifts his hands you hit him to the body or kick his legs and slowly chop away at his movement.. and forget takedowns.. the thai clinch is the weapon against this guy because once he stops you need to keep him stopped.. only once he stops will the fight be there for the taking.. hes one of these fighters that wont lose until he slows with age or cops a fluke shot..
It will work only if Machida was using any other style besides karate. Boxers has to get close, muy thai fighters fight close, all the stand up guys fight close, all these type of fighters make countering someone easier, but Karate doesn't allow that. Machida stance is what separate his attacks. He can pop in and out and just outpoint you with his kicks and he'll be out of range from your counters if you want to punch him. So if your tactic is to make him come at you, then you'll just going to end up being a kicking bag for him.
he SHOULD be.. but that dumbass dana white still seems hesitant to give him a title shot.. politics i s'ppose
I've always said the winner of Machida vs Silva (I was always confident Machida would win but wasn't expecting a 1st rd KO) should get the title shot ahead of Rampage. After his 1st round KO he now has a stronger case but Dana has said he will have to wait. The only way he will get a shot next is if Rampage messes up against Jardine, which I don't see happening.
easy. bring a ****in gun..............then just point and spray. outside of that........................no idea.
Here is a good little article on Bloody Elbow I found and its spot on. Lyoto Machida Hates Vaseline by Brent Brookhouse UFC 94 was the event that seemingly had broken Machida through the "boring" label in the eyes of many of the haters. Now we're two days removed from the event and no one cares about "The Dragon." As Yves Levine pushed Machida off the stiffened Thiago Silva I smiled, ready to teach the newly converted the secret handshake and welcome them into the Star Chamber that is the Lyoto Machida Fan Club. The story I was getting ready to write early Sunday morning was the one that most interested me coming out of the event: the myth of Machida's inability to connect with the mainstream audience. Machida received a nice reaction at the weigh-ins, certainly not the kind of reaction one would expect after reading the message board talk of mainstream hatred leading up to the fight. Then Machida received a warm reception at the fight, and Silva was lightly booed as he was introduced. Finally Lyoto fought the perfect fight, turning Thiago's aggression against him, working from the outside with strikes and if distance was closed he threw a few strikes and used a trip takedown to further dictate the pacing and location of the fight. As the crowd erupted at the devastating knockout I was confident that Machida had just become a star. But now I have spent 48 hours plowing through news about Vaseline, witch doctors, and greasy Canadians. It's obviously a major story, but by focusing so much on this one aspect of the card we are cheating Machida (and Jon Jones) out of the attention they deserve after their performances. So here's to a push for a little love for the guys who did their jobs impressively and without controversy.
Thats about it because no ones going to beat him. He looks a couple of years ahead of the competition. Itll take a fully developed Jon Jones type to beat him. Which is a future scenario to say the least. Anderson Silva is in the same category assuming that he is trying to improve his TD defense. Lyoto certainly has a stronger base.
Any of you clowns see Machida.......you tell him that I'm looking for his ass. Chicken**** mother****er!
Read my previous post. I call it that if a fighter tries to lure Machida to come, he'll end up being a kicking bag. Evans tried to do that and that's what happen. Karate loves fighting in distance... and nobody is the UFC has the tools to fight in distance. You will need a guy who is also good with kicks and I think Cung Le will pose a good fight with Machida.
