Slightly passed it physically, but today's version of Marquez is better than the prime version if that makes any sense.
Physically he is well past it. His legs are nowhere near where they should be and his reflexes are also much slower than they used to be. Superior skill-set and a a warriors heart keep him where he is.
In regards to Mayweather, JMM has fought 3 years longer and has had 15 more pro fights. With his style and level of opposition, JMM has been in more grueling, taken hard shots, or as I like to call them: FIGHTS!:bbb The weight gain, FMJ 6in reach adv, and the fact that JMM got outboxed by Chris John: Floyd UD
Exactly. While he may not be in his physical prime as someone in their mid to late twenties would be, he more than compensates with his intelligence. Juan Manuel Marquez is in his prime, or having a second-prime sort of the way Bernard Hopkins has.
The same old trash that has been used for years to discredit anything Floyd does. Pacquiao would be lauded as a hero and fearless warrior if he was the one fighting Marquez.
He may be of age, but I think this is the best he's been. He's won against two top guys in the light weight via KO [and arguably a win against Pac]. And I don't think he's shown any sign of slowing down. So I personally think he's still got it and basically not past it. A lost to PBF of course, fans will shoot him right at the "past it" position.
physically, he's past his prime. he was hit a lot on his fight at LW, unlike at the lower wights. though his skills is still there.
his physical prime was the first pac fight and prior. he seemed to decline quite a bit against jandaeng, jaca, and to a smaller extent, against juarez. in my opinion, his fighting prime came in the barrera fight. he's looked peak in ring smarts, but slower on reaction, possibly due to his ascent up in the weight classes. too bad his peaks didnt come at the same time.
i think he's in his prime. his power has improved and his slow start with diaz i think is more due to his style, most counterpunchers including floyd are generally slow starters. every fighter is different and marquez is of a special fighting breed
