I've seen comments claiming he will be dominating the World scene... Until he is tested in a big fight at domestic, British and maybe even European level should he get that far, then it's a bit of a bold prediction to be making. He is pretty good and he is improving. That I agree with. The rest is hype. It's like when Rogan beat Skelton, all of a sudden he was a threat for Wlad. :nut
I think everyone is just so impatient for some real talent at Heavy, it's natural to get excited about prospects. Doesn't mean it's sensible. But at least it's understandable. I haven't seen anything to make me think he is gonna be the next worldbeater. But as you say, give him time, let him grow and improve, see where he goes.
Rogan? Are you kidding? If Sexton can outbox Rogan than Fury certainly can, and Fury is leagues ahead of Sexton. Skelton has always been utter garbage, his toughness being the reason he ever got as far as he did. Sprott. Ordinary.Very ordinary Williams. Used to be good, but more interested in eating cakes these days. Fury would obliterate all these fellas. The only one who might make a decent fight of it would be Rogan before he was rescused by the ref after taking a fearful hiding
You expect power from someone weighing 18 1/2 stone. What you don't expect is blinding handspeed and fleet footed movement
You're missing the point. I always judge prospects, not by who they beat, but how they look in doing so.
Looking impressive against the Scott Belshaw's of this world does not mean he would "obliterate" the rest of the British scene.
Jesus, I think one of the big problems with the heavyweight division is that we are so quick to tear guys down. Fury is almost as big as Valuev and yet has some real skills. He is fighting often, improving, and whereas he may not be fighting world beaters, nor are they the ususal 1-1-1 or 3-17 guys that most fighters start off with. Much like Haye, he is entertaining ans self promoting. Lets give the man break and a couple of years to develope.
atsch My bad. He is shedding the excess flesh - he's not cut by any means but he is only twenty. With a few more fights under his belt and some more experience he will mature physically and mentally.
he done ok he was leaving his left hand out after jabbing, he wont get away with that against world class opponents but all in all a decent performance
It's the same thing with Kevin Johnson..... these are good prospects with promising futures. Even if they turn out to be the next Joe Mesi's, so what? Even if a 19 year old Mike Tyson came along, you'd hear their boring babble on how "he sometimes drops his left" or how his opponents are bums. atsch In the finishing combo, i saw a 6'8" man throw and land a good jab and hooked off it perfectly to the liver in a fraction of a second, while keeping his right hand high. How often do you see that? The man has loads of talent for sure. His technique seems to have improved a lot.
