Why do certain guys ALWAYS bring up COTTO's loss to Margarito time after time?.......

    Seriously... its kind of annoying. :deal

    Am i a fan of Cotto? Yes.:smoke

    He is my 2nd favoritve active fighter behind Mosley and before Hopkins. But it seems like everytime im in a debate guys i wont mention (bigreg,jmm2,lilfloyd) always post pix of the Cotto Marg fight and point to that one fight.:-(

    Fighters who fight other top fighters LOSE :deal

    Hopkins,jones,Trinidad,Oscar,Mosley,Whittaker,Duran,Leonard and 99percent of every top fighter who has faced top oppisition eventually loses.

    Styles make fights and i do like Cotto but i never claim he can beat everyone. IMO Paul Williams would beat Cotto because its a bad style Matchup for Cotto. I think Cotto-Mayweather would be close because of styles but id favor Mayweather 55-45 for a decision.

    All that im saying here is we should point to a fighters loss to degrate him or put him down because in BOXING that is what happens. :hi:

    Because it's unlikely Margo cheated in the Cotto fight and he quit.

    Because there are so many variables around the fight that no one really know what actually or happened, or what the consequences are.

    I think you have a point in that one loss to another elite fighter shouldnt bring scorn for your whole career. Actually losing a couple of fights shouldnt be a huge dent on your record especially if youavenge them ala Lewis.

    The problem Cotto has is that his resume isnt solid enough that he is truly considered a great fighter. Take out Mosley and his record encompasses a lot of guys that other people have beat.

    He was on the cusp of stardom but the loss has kept him on the cusp. Fights with Jennings wont get him there. However, A good win against Clottey and he's back on it.

    He just needs to do it in the ring now.

    Because Cotto lost to a guy who could have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

    Because Nevada Issues there own Gauze and Tape and I believe they also record the wrapping process.

    What does that matter if someone inserts a plaster smeared pad inside of their hand wraps?

    If that's the case, Keith Kizer would have referred to the recording during his statements regarding Margarito after the controvery came about.

    huh? if you're interested in discussing Cotto's career to this point, should people only discuss his wins? It's one of the 2 biggest fights of his career, he lost it, nothing wrong with that, but why wouldn't it get brought up?

    How can you say he quit when he stood in there and got belted time and again. His face was contorted after the fight. So what if he took a knee? You are acting as though he is Acelino Freitas!

    No i dont mean it shouldnt be brought up but i mean moreso some guys point to it for no reason or when its not even called for:deal

    for exsample---

    Yesterday this Guy made this thread about a rap song he put together. I posted my opinion of the Video and stated that i thought the apperance of the so called rapper was not on point and looked sort of stupid because he was posturing as if he was constapated and made childish faces threwout the Vid.

    It was kinda wac.

    Then JMM and lil Floyd come along and begin saying im just mad because Cotto lost to Marg :nut :patsch

    Apparently there was a clip of Cotto-Marg in the Vid i hadnt even seen because i couldnt oringinaly force myself to watch that attempt at HipHop..

    Then JMM2 posted pix of Cotto bloodied up and these 2 guys were having the best laugh and were virually high fiving eachother when The subject at hand was not ANY boxer at all. It was the rapping and video of the wanna be rapper.

    So that inspired me to write this thread because thats not the first time someone brings up those pix or that fight out of context.

    Cotto didn't quit, he just ran out of gas and had nothing left to offer at that point. He was broken down completely at that point and was taking punches without being able to defend his self. Quitting is when you just give up even though you have some left, saying Cotto quit is like saying Tyson quit vs Lewis, both tried till they had ZERO left in the ring.

    Margarito had loaded gloves too and Cotto was still winning the fight on points, that explains how terrible Margarito is.
