The thing is, it's an established fact that he got caught trying to cheat against Mosley. It will obviously raise questions about the authenticity of his previous fights and Capetillo saying things like he did in this video only raise even more questions. Like someone said earlier, if Margarito had not been caught cheating, then this video wouldn't mean ****. Is it solid evidence? No, but it sure does make you wonder.......
Just spotted the video and watched it. Got to be honest, it doesn't sound like he's hinting Margarito's gloves are 100% loaded and stiff at that point. Just telling Margarito to finish him off as it was getting obvious that Cotto is slowly breaking down and getting tired/easier to hit.
Then why didn't he address that? He didn't tell Margie, Cotto's getting tired he is open and vulnuerable...go for the kill. He spoke in the heat of the moment Earlier he asked Margie, " como esta la pegada " ? What trainer have you ever heard in the corner ask his fighter.... " como esta la pegada " ? (How is your punch) ?
Can't hear him say that, according to the translator he's telling him that his punches should be power punches and solid ones, meaning he should keep committing 100% with his punches as they can clearly see Cotto is breaking down from them. I'm not saying he didn't load them up, I do believe in heart that he did in BOTH Cotto and Williams fights but that video proves nothing.
If I had quoted for verbatim in spanish as you have....most posters would not understand....so, I translated in english....which you can't translate word for word. I quoted..." your punches should be solid by now " In english it is the same as saying..." ya en este tiempo deben de estar realmente solidos " Maybe I missed something but, I didn't hear any reference to power punches. Something just doesn't add up with the Margie team....it seems they were counting on something else to kick in..... That is just my opinion at this time based on circumstantial revelations...
So i took the video and just listen to the audio on this sound separation software i got and this is what i got "Para este tiempo ya debes de tener golpes solidos"....... exactly what capetillo said "By now you should have solid hits" translated Ok im bullshiting but still, u can hear capetillo as clear as day
Maybe he means that Marg needs to committ with his punches 100% and take him out? Let's face it, it was obvious Cotto was in for the taking at that point, Capatello was probably just telling him to unload with full force.
Why are you listening to the translator? (Do you know Spanish?) If you do, disregard the translator and listen to Capetillo and again don't say you cant hear Capetillo because the translator starts speaking AFTER Capetillo says the suspicious statement.
Scar, Margie was throwing with full force and often, however they weren't power punches as to say KO punches. Granted he hurt Cotto in the 7th of which he quickly recovered. For the most part Margie's punches weren't overwhelmingly powerful as Cotto commented afterwards that he sat on the ropes and traded because there wasn't any unusual power in Margie's punches. Even when Margie hit Cotto on the arms or wherever...most of those punches weren't thrown with real power but they still had that thudding sound. Cotto hit margie with accurate and clean blows and you didn't hear that thudding sound as you did with Margie's. Did they have the same gloves? I know they didn't have the same Wraps!!!!
Yes I do know Spanish but still insist that this isn't good enough proof that they were referring to loaded gloves. I do believe he cheated but the conversation there isn't good enough to confirm it.
Let me ask you something then...How does a punch become "solid" by the 9th round? According to Capetillo, something should've been solid "by now"... I know something that gets pretty solid after quite some time but I'm not going to say what it is......... :hey
This is what i understood cus i did not hear "golpes" "ya en este tiempo deben estar totalmente solidos" "By this time they should be totally solid."
Margaritio had loaded gloves in that one, I have no doubts about it and that includes the Williams fight too. Just saying that the video is far too weak to prove anything, in terms of proof it's poor, that's all I'm saying. NOT saying that he didn't have loaded gloves.
I gotcha Scar, I understand your point....however, I am just looking at all the previous revelations....not much earlier Capetillo asked him, " como esta la pegada" ? Which means, how is the punch? When have you ever heard a trainer ask his fighter, how is the punch?
