Best fighter you`ve ever seen in their prime ?

    I hear what your saying with the `complete` issue, Ali only ever went seriously to the body in the Williams fight (ironically his best performance regardless of opposition quality) & he only ever showed any in-fighting in 1 fight I can remember, the 3rd Frazier fight - his gutsiest display ever IMO.

    Its just that the things Ali did well, he did like poetry & he was a complete master at staying away from having to use his big weakness (in-fighting), virtually no-one could force him to fight on the inside to gain an advantage in his prime, his footwork, lateral movement, judge of distance & jab basically made sure the fight was kept at the pace he wanted, the reflexes, speed & combinations weren`t too shabby either.

    Best movement Ive ever seen from any man over 180 lbs (212 he was at his own peak)

    Yeah, this sums it up for me pretty well also. If you only tick off boxes there are many that were more text book and complete, but he brought a magic of his own. As did Roy Jones, to a degree. Leonard combined these two elements very well and that's what makes him so pleasurable to watch.

    Duran was also awesome, but I'm just more sold on the slicksters I guess.

    But I'm waiting to see what comes of Mayweather and Pacquiao.

    Ray Leonard by a nose over Pernell Whitaker & Roberto Duran, purely because he was more complete/versatile. Until recently I have always said Duran, but I think now I am going to say Duran was the better fighter p4p and Leonard had a slight edge on ability.

    Leonard had everything. In the first Duran fight he was outfought and beaten, but he still showed he was absolutely brilliant at infighting with his back to the ropes - great chin, determination and handspeed. At the end of the first Hearns fight, he showed that he was a lethal finisher and had considerable power at his best weight. In the Hagler fight, he showed speed, resilience, skill, and a strong mentality.

    He seemed to be able to fight in any style and still be amazing.

    Duran will always be my favourite fighter though. And his career and achievements top Ray's IMO.

    For the overall package...Robinson, Whitaker, Duran and Napoles are the best Ive seen.

    But there have been so many more who have been just brilliantly awesomely brilliant..maybe not in such a dominant and consistent fashion as those guys though.

    How could I forget Gomez?...Thats one guy whos prime I have just recently become familiar with..he was just awesome, simple as that.

    I rarely watch fights two times in a row but Conteh-Finnegan I was one of them...I only just noticed it on youtube the other day and had never seen it before..Two very good fighters..Man Conteh was something else in his prime, even if it was ridiculously short.
