No final deal on Pacman bout Oct. 17

    MANILA, Philippines - Talks of Manny Pacquiao facing either Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley next remain just that: talks.

    “They’re propaganda,” said Pacquiao’s Canadian adviser, Mike Koncz, when sought by The STAR to share the latest on the FIlipino boxer as far as his plans on the ring are concerned.

    Aside from the fact that Pacquiao has agreed to return on Oct. 17, nothing is definite as to who’ll be in the other corner. Even the fight venue remains a tossup among a lot of bidders.

    “There’s been no real discussions, just small discussions between Manny, me and (lawyer) Geng (Franklin Gacal) as to who the next opponent’s gonna be,” said Gacal last night.

    He said Freddie Roach mentioning the names of Cotto and Mosley, a pair of welterweights who can give Pacquiao the toughest challenge ever in his career, can be taken as an opinion.

    “Freddie is the trainer he’s not the manager so he’s not involved in the final process of negotiation for the selection of the opponent. With due respect to train Manny is his duty,” said Koncz.

    “Again it’s propaganda,” said Koncz of recent articles saying Pacquiao would fight Cotto or Mosley at 142 lb, and that both fighters have turned down the idea, saying it’s 145 lb or nothing.

    Koncz said Pacquiao has never talked about Cotto or Mosley as his next opponent.

    They also said if they will fight Mosely or Cotto weight will be no problem but the profit of sharing. So that means Pac has no problem in fighting @147???

    If Freddy has no input in Mannys next opponent, why is he out there talking about catchweights?:rofl Doesnt matter if its Cotto, JMM, PBF or Mosley it will be a good fight.

    Whoever he fights next it will be a big name. I know he wanted Mayweather, but doubt if it will happen.

    I mean who ever they will fight weight will be no problem, so it is clear? It's just Freddie want the ****ing catchweight.

    Floyd should just fight Shane if they really want to do a fight on Oct. 17th but I don't see who Pacquiao would fight that makes sense.

    Hmmm...if the Bobfather would just feed him to Valero......

    So he should fight Cotto or Mosley on the 17th and take a chance on blowing the biggest fight possible?:think

    Aren't these the guys who almost made the Hatton fight not happen? Effin snakes. I like Pac but outside of his trainers and family, the people surrounding Pac seem like a bunch of opportunists living of his success.

    Will be a big name, but Roach wanted Pac to fight Mayweather instead of Marquez, but Void refused.

    Yeah, these "advisors" are idiots. He's got a lot of free-loaders hanging around. If he's smart he'll listen to Roach but that probably won't happen since he listened to them instead during the Hatton hold-up.

    Well, maybe Floyd should just fight him on the 17th and get it out of the way. He can take a month off then go back to training.

    I'll admit that Valero definitely has the power to KO Pac (heck probably everyone up to jWW) and if Valero catches Pac flush Pac would be in a whole lot of trouble.

    Valero has a puchers chance (and what a punch it is!)

    But outside of that I'd still say that Valero has a long way to go before he can be considered on the elite level where Pac is.

    I'm definitely on the look out for Valero, a very scary fighter.
