The clicher on Khans chin for me was the Gomez fight. He was up against the ropes, feet set and ready for the punch but still got put on his arse by a pretty average punch from a former Featherweight.

 

All i am going to say Khan is not a natural lightweight, he walks around 149lbs natural weight no fat, at 5'10 and should not be boiling down to 135 to fight. I am waiting to see how his chin reacts at 140 after talking a good clean shot.

Only if his chin somehow improves as his body gets stronger .It can happen...just look at Pac's knockdown against a jab form Nedal Hussein !

I think its Freddy Roach there over-rating at the minute rather than Khan.

 

Can his chin improve at the higher weight? It could. I'm not saying it will, but there's no denying that it could. It might even improve enough to make a difference.

Can the coach improve his defence? Undoubtedly.

If Khan makes the best of what he's got then he should be in the mix at the top level. And if he does get better punch resistance at 140+ then he's a decent bet for P4P top 10 in a few years.

Yes he could.

For as bad as his chin is he's been stopped once. There are no iron jawed murderous punchers at LWW, and his speed will more often than not allow him to tee off first. That coupled with decent power and his ability means he will put fighters in trouble no question, and he is a very good finisher.

It's not rare a fighters punch resistance improves in moving up, but he will have to be always on guard and he hasnt shown he can be. Even in the MAB fight he lost concentration a few times.

It's whether he can keep his composure and stick to whatever plan Roach gives him that will be the big factor. If he charges in he will be ****ed. there's been some improvement in his defense but he is still wide open to left hooks especially, and his undoing could be that his likely first mando will be Ortiz. And Vic's straight left and hook is brilliant. But he can be put down himself.

 

Diving in an throwing wild punches with both hands does not make you a good finisher.

 

I think he can. Amir Kahn is chinny, but so is Yuriokas Gamboa, and everyones pretty sure he will become p4p top 10 material.

Remember Terry Norris. he never had the best of chins but was a P4Pder back in the 90's

 

If Roach gives him a game plan for his fights and he sticks to it i think he could be top 10 material. The thing is we will see a similar situation to Hatton because when he fights the very best he will get sparked. Im predicting he will be in the top ten on some peoples lists on his next run.
