I disagree completely. Steward was in a different situation. He had already lost Taylor completely by that point. If Steward has a fighter he trusts in there, his advice is probably a lot clearer than that. Steward and Taylor were doomed by that point.

My point is simply this; out of all the possible choices, Steward would be one of the worst choices Kelly could make. How the hell could you ever really trust a guy who said you would not be competetive with Jermain Taylor, and Andy Lee can whip your ass?

And Hermit made some good points as well. In the Lyell/Duddy fight Jack Loew never once told Lyell "keep your ****ing hands up." That's something he tells KP all the time, but Lyell has a very different style from KP. Jack never said "double the jab" either. Billy threw mostly single jabs, left hooks, and rights to the head. And it was Jack Leow that said; "you beat Duddy by wingin' shots at his head non stop," and apparently he was right.

It was also Jack who said Miranda can't fight off the back foot. Back him up and knock him out.

And it was Leow who said of Taylor, "It's a basic ****in' fight with this kid, jab, right hand, simple!"

Apparently Leow does know what he's talking about, and KP would be a fool to break up Team Pavlik. People just make WAY to much out of the Hopkins fight.

Booradley, steward said Taylor had the best and most intense training camp ever, he was supposed to be the most conditioned he has ever been, i think steward was relying on Taylors conditioning.

Well to be honest, we all kind of figured that. The thing is it's nearly impossible (or was nearly impossible) to pull off.

I think Loew is an average trainer...but that's fine, he's a perfect match for Pavlik. He accentuates his strengths and NORMALLY minimizes his weaknesses.

There is no reason for Kelly to make a change at this point in his career. He has won some very big fights with Leow and has a great relationship with him. Bhop schooled him, but that may have been a bad night for Kelly. I would keep Leow for now and see what happens. If things crash (which I doubt they will at 160lbs except for Abraham) then he could consider looking elsewhere.

If you're right about what Steward relied on, it only strengthens my argument. You don't beat Kelly Pavlik with stamina and/or work rate. You beat him with speed and extremely clever movement. Manny had JT trying to go toe to toe with KP, and trying to out-jab him. Stupid plan that shows that Steward had no idea what Pavlik's strengths and weaknesses are, and therefore would not be a good choice for a trainer.

well steward had not seen much of Pavlik, Nazim and the crew had the 2 Taylor fights to go by, they analyzed it thoroughly and saw how Jermain troubled Pavlik in the first and second fight.

If Steward did not know much about Pavlik, that's his own damn fault. Pretty much all KP's pro fights are on tape, but Steward looked at Pavlik/Miranda and assumed Kelly was nothing more than a brawler who got lucky.

My point really is that up until JT dumped him, and Andy Lee lost to Vera, Steward NEVER showed real respect for Pavlik. Therefore, he would be a bad choice for a trainer.

If I could add anything I wanted to Team Pavlik, I would bring Nazim Richardson in as a "special advisor" to Jack Leow, and have Nazim play an active roll in fight preparation. Nazim and Jack already have a relationship of sorts from the amature circuit. Richardson is the first trainer of an opponent who seemed to know exactly what KP is all about. Everyone else under estimated him big time.

I don't remember Jack Leow ever coming up as a thread topic prior to the Hopkins fight, since then there have been many such threads. People are making judgements based on one fight. They ignore the history, but the history says Jack Leow, Miguel Diaz, and Kelly Pavlik make a damn good team. It would be a huge mistake to make any major changes.
