Im sorry but the state of the heavtweight division now is not going to benefit him! So saying his career isnt over is a stake in his heart! Who will he beat? Hasim Rahman!? The guy has not beat anyone to be regarded in anyones all time HW's and so placing him in your personal list is imo wortless. His main rival now is his brother but they will not fight. No great opponents, no 1 punch KO power and is good because he is literally massive and not obese.
somewhere toward the bottom of the list...wins over sam peter, hassim rahman (2008 version) danny williams and corrie sanders does not excite me......
I saw the fight yes, Sanders floored him in the first round and the ref for some reason decided it wasn't a knock-down when in fact it was.
I just watched it. Corrie Sanders landed a hard left flush on Vitali and it didnt put him down but it definately had him on ***** street. Then several seconds later they are tangled in the ropes and Sanders backs off and makes Vitali fall down by pulling him down with his right hand. He didn't even make a punching motion he just pulled him down. Vitali gets up in less than a second. Ref rightly says its not a KD.
As you say he was on ***** st....I believe there was a similar knock-down in the Tyson-Holmes fight and the referee rightly called it a knock-down as Holmes went down from a punch from a few seconds before even though nothing landed when he actually went down. Depends on your point of view I suppose but these Klit-ites that claim VITLAY has never visited canvas are wrong :deal
Not that high, he still has work to do, and achieving a the HW title 4 years after retirement is an accomplishment. As long as he keeps on winning he will keep increasing his ranking. Wladimir Klitschko is better all time in resume than Vitali.
Not especially high. Accomplishments are much more important than one's speculation on mythical matchups and "what if" factors. Making a comeback and winning a belt after all that time off was nice, but not nearly as good for one's legacy as actually staying healthy and beating top contenders/titlists around. Wlad will go down in history as the greater fighter, even though he's the more vulnerable fighter, he simply will have done better work because he had the ability to stay healthy (which is always important for an athlete).
those guys are less wrong than those who deny Vitali has one of the best HW chins of all time. The way I saw it, Vitali managed to stay on his feet after taking a punch that would have knocked down almost any other HW. Sanders has always been known to be a hell of a puncher.
Vitali Klit is a hulk.... At 6' 7" tall and 250 pounds of solid muscle, he moves a tad robotic but effectively.... Vitali Klit is no slouch....... His chin & power is top-notch........ Vitali Klit is NOT the greatest fighter of all-time, but, he is a solid lock for the top-10 all-time heavyweight list right now, in my book....... I got him placed at # 6 as we speak....... NOW! Let me clarify things..... My high ranking of Vitali Klit is not exactly based on his vast amount of great competition that he has faced and beaten..... Some of Klit's foes' have been questionable, while others are damn good....... I base my ranking of Klit on the fact that he just seems to have little to no fear and the ability to freeze an opponent just from his stare........ Plus, he is a good fighter...... I think Vitali Klit could hold his own and win some great fights in any era from 1887 to 2009...... :bbb:hatthumbsup:good MR.BILL
Don't agree with either bolded statement. He is actually in the right era. He is quite fortunate and his supporters should be glad he is fighting in this specific window of time. He needs to be compared against talented big men not men from earlier eras. There will inevitably be talented big men that will take up boxing again that will put his overall and obvious limitations in proper historical perspective. For the time being, he gets to finish his career seeming to be better than he actually would if matched with more talented big men (now competing in many other sports). The next couple generations will bring real talent back to the heavyweight division just in the normal cycle of things.
Listing his size and his assets (chin, strength, etc will produce a great fighter in a video game. I'll admit that he looks the part of a great champ. But the harsh reality is that looking back on paper he's fought only twice against "known competition" and despite the circumstances surrounding the verdict, both went down as "L's" on his record. That doesn't bode well for any fighter.
