Two pound for pounds guys for year after year yet two completly contrasting styles. Who ranks higher ATG and who has the better resume?
Mosley would outbox, outspeed, outmuscle and outpunch Chavez. Mosley has everything Meldrick Taylor did speed and boxing wise, but is also far stronger a bigger hitter and a cast iron chin. Not to mention Shane just loves fighting Mexicans
nope, just see Chavez vs Rosario Fight Mosley NEVER outbox chavez in his prime!!! Mosley is FAR FAR away from the JCC prime level
if someone asked me this question before the margarito fight i would have to say the great chavez who is p4p higher imo to mosley. but after watching a older molsey totally outspeed margarito. loaded wraps or not, mosley owned that night. its not that i think mosley is a better fighter then chavez, i just think that mosley has the best chances of winning against fighters that are more similar to chavez. chavez's best chances of having difficulty come against fighter more similar to mosley (fast footed fighters like taylor, whitaker, wise). i agree with powerpuncher, maybe not as fast hand speed wise as meldrick taylor, but he was much stronger i believe and hit much harder. chavez would take many many fairly hard pot shots before getting in and working his game. mosley was also strong enough to move up to 154 and beat delahoya and vargas.
Early Rosario was certainly on Shane's level..as good as if not better then anything Shane showed at lightweight. Much better one punch power and better ringcraft I reckon..Just didnt have the chin to stick to his gameplan like Shane did.
I agree over the spread of their careers that Mosley is better than Rosario certainly, but i do agree that Shane is not outboxing Chavez. Mosley could possibly do a Meldrick Taylor type job, but then again that fight was at 140, and i do feel that Chavez would find Mosley possibly easier to tag than Meldrick, that's just an incling i have. But i don't see Chavez stopping Mosley, no way, and maybe he would need to. There's a lot of variables when it comes to this one imo. I'll take Chavez, from what i saw at lightweight he was simply relentless in his approach. Very difficult to say, don't mind either way.
Is this a prime Mosley or a 'primed' i didn't know the injections were illegal Mosley ? Regardless at 135 or 140 Chavez deals with him. Theres a reason people like Rosario and Taylor didn't achieve much after Chavez, its because he ruined them , the defeats were brutal mentally and physically and totally, no excuses.
Shane does not have Meldrick's work rate or hand speed. At 135 I'm not convinced he's stronger either. Shane had his struggles with the likes of Molina and Holiday, that's hardly something to make one confident when he's facing a clearly, clearly superior fighter in Chavez.
Who has chavez beat that was a better fighter than Shane Mosley, straight up. Your gonna give him props for beating meldrick taylor now? Please, if it wasn't for that bs stoppage, chavez would have rightfully lost that fight. Mosley always schools mexicans.
