Dont know mate.......I agree marketing is everything but the aussie public want to see Green wip Mundine.....Green has lost that edge....he needs some good wins to get the public thinking again that he will KO Mundine.

ATM most people would think Mundine will win....so it a bit been there done that.....I maybe wrong but dont think it will get the same gate and PPV.

DANNY GREEN vs ROY JONES Jnr - in Australia??

Unlikely to be his next opponent and probably unlikely to ever be, but here's the
article by Dan Rafael ESPN anyway:

Roy Jones Jr. is behaving like a chicken with its head cut off. He's talking about this fight with Jeff Lacy, that rematch with Clinton Woods, going to Australia for a fight with Danny Green or maybe even facing one MMA fighter or another. It's really pretty sad. The bottom line is that Jones is out of big fights.

I agree Ash. People (not boxing fans) ask me about the Mundine Green II fight all the time and just assume Mundine will whip Green. Now, that may be the case, but their assumptions are only based on the last fight which was like 3 years ago.

Green needs a profile name that he can beat impressively just to warrant the rematch. At the moment, like Ash said, people have been there done that with Munine Green hype and to be honest probably feel pretty let down that they didnt see a KO.

I don't know how they can hype this second fight to the same effect as the first?

Wasn't Green trying to get roy jones over here before he retired? I believe after the Tarver fight fell through?

The sad thing about Jones is that Green probably has a chance.

agree witha lot you have to say but still think that if green starts regurgitating the same **** as he did in his doco about having to lose 3kg of muscle mass to make SMW, him being more comfortable at LHW, hes never lost a fight at LHW, fights in his own town etc. alot of people a gonna think " yeah dannys gonna smash the dickhead this time" the marketing will get the the bill blogs and front bar freds talking about it and becoming experts and telling all and sundry why one or the other will win.whatever you think of them the marketing is brilliant.
the sad thing for fans like you and teke is that you are unlikely to see choc test himself against the likes of Sturm and Pavlik ever.

I think the general public dont know how important that extra 3 or 4kgs is for Green.....this time round I think Greens going to need some good wins to get interest back as big as the first fight.

Oh and on choc testing himself against the big boys.....you have forgotten the true meaning of nuthugging :yep

We are happy as long as our guy is in the ring and gets the win.

Its a bit like dragons playing the storm or the sharks....the storm will be a real test and the sharks maybe a bit easy ATM but you still jump infornt of the tv to watch both games with just as much zest.....or I do anyway....go dragons

As a mundine fan I do want him to step up but I know he will have another 3 years in boxing if he dont get smashed by Pav or Sturm.

The big fight will come but better he beats top 3 to 10's for vacant/ paper titles over the next year or 2 than gets beaten in 4 months.

Mundine only needs 1 big win and his team will wait until that right moment to pick off the big name fight....until then its all about the cash and flash baby :yep

    The drums are still beating!

    GREEN vs. ROY JONES JNR

DANNY GREEN is poised to sign a lucrative deal to box against one of the sport's all-time greats, Roy Jones jnr. Jones has indicated he'll fight Green in Australia. "We still have a way to go,'' Green said. "We've been in negotiations with Roy and his management for quite a while but it looks very promising.''

Comment: Will believe it when I see it, but....

I wasn't wrong about Tarver i posted it on here that he would fight tarver 3 weeks b4 anyone else.
I can't help the fact that gary shaw and Tarver still hadn't signed the contract 6 weeks b4 the fight was to take place.
They already had the ppv advert made and the date was set in box rec for dec 1 at the time that Danny pulled out to fight Dews.
I was wrong on a post i put up about him fighting Admek about 3 years ago and u still wont let me forget it:deal
As for me not being the 1st to know about him retiring i guess that proves that i don't sleep with Danny:yep i no it's hard to believe but when Danny woke in the middle of the night with his "i've seen the light,i think i'll retire moment" i wasn't there holding his ****
As for Danny fighting RJJ its a big if because last time they negotiated they were so close on about 3-4 occassians but it always fell threw for 1 reason or another.
Now that Roy doesn't command the monster pay days he use to it might be more of a chance for this fight to happen,i know Danny wants it bad cause he knows a loss to RJJ wont kill off the Mundine rematch but we'll have to see hopefully RJJ see's it as a easy win with a decent payday and we might just get to see it.

    Green vs Jones Jr?

There is a growing feeling in Australia that potentially the biggest fight in Australian boxing history is heading to the “rocks” as both former WBA light-heavyweight champion Danny Green (26-3, 23 KO’s) and former WBA super-middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (35-3, 23 KO’s) cannot agree the detail over weight and venue for their proposed re-match. Green now looks likely to try and secure a fight at 175 pounds with American Roy Jones Jnr, later in 2009 and is confident a match can be made. It was confirmed in the Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday that Danny Green and his team are now looking to a potential match with Roy Jones Jnr as a preferred option, rather than a re-match with his arch rival Mundine. Green stated, “We’ve been in negotiations with Roy and his management team for a while and it looks promising.”

He added further, “Having a win over Roy Jones Jnr would be an honour, something you would be proud of to tell your grandchildren because of the calibre of fighter he is.”

Green came out of retirement in April and defeated South African Anthony Van Nierkirk inside two rounds at the Challenge Stadium in Perth, Western Australia which was stage one of a planned route to a multi-million dollar showdown with Mundine, who out pointed him in 2006 in Sydney. It is reported that their original fight generated each fighter in excess of $5m and took place in front of a live gate of 37,000 fans at the Sydney Stadium and generated over 800,000 PPV buys in Australia.

Mundine won their original fight on wide scores of 118-112, 118-111 and 116-113 after dominating the match with superior speed and boxing.

It was expected that the 36 year old Green would take on Mundine’s last victim Shannon Taylor in August in Sydney in the next stage of his comeback but his plans now look likely to re-direct to appearing on the undercard of the Jeff Lacy v Roy Jones Jnr match in New Orleans on August 22nd.

Green announced his return to the boxing ring when he landed in a helicopter at Perth Subiaco Oval on February 10th and stated the return was purely targeted at a re-match with Mundine. He stated, “This fight is about revenge and redemption – Mundine beat me fair and square last time and this return in about settling the ledger.”

Part of the failure to ink the re-match with Mundine has been the disagreement over venue and the weight division the match up will take place. Green is adamant the bout should be at 175 pounds and the venue should be the 40,000 capacity Subiaco Oval in Perth, Western Australia. This is because in their initial match, Green agreed to fight in Sydney, where Mundine was the local fighter.

Mundine however has dropped down to the 160 pound middleweight division and takes on unbeaten Daniel Geale for the IBO title on Wednesday and has recently stated he has no interest in the Green match, preferring to challenge WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm as the mandatory challenger and then take on Kelly Pavlik in a middleweight unification match. Indeed, he has recently stated that his match with Geale will be his last fight in his native Australia and sees his own career progression in the US, rather than a re-match with Danny Green.

Many observers believe that the planned re-match will indeed happen in early 2010 but the route to that match may not run straight. Whatever the relative issues over weight and location for a re-match, the revenue generation of Green V Mundine II would make it the biggest fight in Australian boxing history with each fighter expected to earn in excess of $5m.

Mundine’s IBO middleweight title challenge against unbeaten champion Daniel Geale can be seen on Main Events PPV on Wednesday from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

An easy fight and payday for RJJ.

Danny will look like a stiff board in there against Roy. I know people will say Jones is gone, and yes he probably is, but we are talking about Danny Green here and not jOE cALZAGHE :D
