There was a thread made a couple of years ago about how much Buffer makes per fight. There was much speculation and arguing. People were claiming that it was hundreds of thousands. Anyway a guy who gave all his credentials and was actually involved in organising the money for Buffer posted that he makes about 5k for the major fights. As for the merchandising and his catchphrase etc he had no idea.

Depends, do you want to win on points, by disqualification or knockout?

Like I said before...Joe Cortez definitely makes more money in one night for being the ref than Buffer does for saying his famous phrase. However, Buffer receives a shitload of money from retail sales such as video games where his voice is being used. He also makes quite a lot for his other appearances outside of boxing. He's made somewhere near $400,000,000 from his trademark alone (Buffer). The money he gets for saying "Let's get ready to rumble" before a fight is chump change. :deal

    Buffer.

Cortez does own and operate a Boxing referee school that I think costs like 2k or 3k to enroll in.

Buffer is a celebrity in Germany. For many big fights there, they do a short interview with him, on his thoughts about the fight.
