That fighters would move up in weight as much???

I dont think that they would, I think that having what amounts to five belt holders in every weight give fighters the chance to move up in weight fight a weak belt holder, and then do it again. If we were back in the days were there was one champion i dont think that Fighter would move up and down in weight, and it would force great fights. I know that boxing will never be like that again, but just think of the fights that it would force, there would be very little ducking, because you would just be able to give up a belt and pick up another.

Probably less weight jumping since you couldn't just move into a division for a belt and leave. You would have to fight the absolute best in the division (most of the time).

There'd be less of the "fight a weaker champ at the division for a trinket" type of thing, but the avoided fighters would suffer more. The high risk/low reward fighters have more belts to choose from right now, so there's less real quality guys who go through their careers not getting (or only getting maybe one) a title shot. The trinket helps as a marketing tool to an extent.

Whereas in the days with way less alphabet mess, there were simply a whole load of great fighters who never got title shots because the risk was too large for the financial reward.

Boxing would be so much more popular with fewer weight classes and only one champion per division. Also, all fighters would have to earn a title shot by actually beating the fighter, at least, one notch above them.

Nope, fighters would not move around the weight divisions as much.

A 4 division champ these days isn't worth a 3 division champ 50 years ago.

It would be great. I love boxing more than any other sport but I respect more the rules of basketball and baseball because they follow rules and do not let other organizations get involved into the game. If baseball followed boxing they would have another league started and then involve that league in the world series. Wouldn't work too well.

depends on the fighters. I definately think someone like Pacquiao would since he's fought the best in every division he's been in except 135

guys like Valero and Linares would probably never win a belt.
