Why is Pac getting criiticism for not going to welter and facing Mosley, Cotto or even potentially Floyd. He stated before the Oscar fight he was going to stay at 140, and that this was the only fight he'd do there. His people feel he simply will give up too much size to these fighters. Can you not agree with this especially since he was fighting Marquez last year at 130. His body obviously outgrew 130 as was obvious by how much he cut to make weight his last few outings at superfeather and how gaunt he looked at the weigh ins. He moved up for his health and for better fights 140 is probably the best weight for him at this point but I'm more than willing to believe he could get back down to lightweight if need be. The fight we should be getting right about now is with Marquez at 35 or 40. Now all the bigger welters want a piece of him and who could blame them he is the best in the sport and is the money man who even nonboxing fans at this point look forward to his upcoming fights. Now if they want the fight with him being the bigger men why shouldn't they come to 140 which is his new playground and he holds the lineal championship. If he has to give up size they should give something in return. I'd love to see him fighting the best at welter that way if he wins there will be no drain or dead at the weight excuses and I think he has good shot with any of them at that weight. But I haven't heard Pac call out any of them. They've made all the noise and he simply said he would fight the bigger men just meet me in the middle so neither side gives up too much of an advantage.
Is he getting criticism? Ignore it. There is not satisfying some people. Don't try to change their minds. You will only waste your time.
Although Manny destroyed Hatton in his last fight his handspeed was diminished. Manny would be killed at welterweight especially if he fights Mosely. Manny can make big bucks at lightweight he does not have to fight at welterweight.
Because making Cotto or Mosley come down in weight to 140 is stupid. I can understand Floyd, cause Floyd can cut that but neither of those fighters can. I think what it basically shows is that Freddy knows the DLH fight was somewhat luck (Pacquiao being heavier than DLH) and that they need to have all the advantages by straining Mosley/Cotto.
Although he won against Oscar, it showed that physically, he was at a disadvantage. In terms of height and even power, he had to fight the perfect fight. Also people dont understand that for 20mil and mainstream exposure, Ivan Calderon would fight Klitschko. Oscar was a one off, in a year or two if Pac is still fighting, his body will outgrow 140 and he will move on to 147.
Coming from a PBF fan? You should be appaled at even the slightest idea of Pac getting to Mosley or Cotto first before PBF. Yea lets force Pac to fight at WW, meanwhile PBF is gonna be forcing LW's to fight at WW too.
Well i just want to see pac in with someone who has a geniune shot at beating him. And that means either Floyd at whatever or Cotto Shane or Williams (haha) at 147 Draining any of these boys is rendering them useless
Im saying if he wants to fight them fight them at 147. They cant make 140 like Roach is demanding. Even the catchweights are too much. Floyd is fighting Marquez in his first fight back. Mosley had a chance in Feb and declined.
If he wants to stay at 140 then he should admit it, and admit he doesn't want to fight Cotto or Mosley. Instead of making out like they are trying to duck because they won't come down to a weight they can't make to fight him.
Because he doesn't plan on fighting any of the current Jr. Welters beacause there's no money there.. The only fights being mention are Mayweather, Mosley, and Cotto.. So if his plan is to fight these fighters that where he should be instead of trying to make them drain themselves to fight him..
FYI, Pac's not saying anything he wants to fight them. It's these guys calling him out for a fight. So, if they want to fight Pac, they should come down at l40 or agree to a catchweight.
Didn't you get the hint? He' staying at l40. And if those big guys want to fight him for the biggest money in their career, they should fight him near l40.
2009 Cotto trying to make 140 would have his hands full with Tim Bradley. As a natural lightweight, Shane might actually be able to call the bluff.
Bigger criticism always comes with the best athletes in any sport ! The best have a lot of fans but also many that wish to see them fall.....
